The Bhūtaḍāmara teaches the sādhana of eight yoginīs, the great vidyās hard even for the gods, by whose worship the lord of yakṣas became lord of wealth. Surasundarī, the first: after the morning bath, the six-limbed nyāsa with the māyā bīja and an eight-petalled lotus with the life-nyāsa, the dhyāna of the fair goddess like the full moon in bright clothes, and a thousand repetitions of "oṃ hrīṃ āgaccha surasundari svāhā" three times a day for a month; at midnight after the month's bali she comes smiling, and as mother gives wealth and kingship, as sister gives divine clothes and celestial and nāga maidens, and as wife gives all that is in heaven, earth and the underworld and shares his bed — provided he goes to no other woman. Manoharā: a sandal maṇḍala on a river bank, the dhyāna of the dark, deer-eyed, moon-faced goddess, ten thousand repetitions of "oṃ hrīṃ gaccha manohare svāhā" a day for a month; she comes with a boon and gives a hundred gold coins a day, but stops if he hoards. Kanakāvatī: at the foot of a banyan with fresh meat and an arghya of one's own blood, the dhyāna of the fierce red-clad girl, ten thousand repetitions of "oṃ hrīṃ hūṃ rakṣa āgaccha kanakāvati svāhā" for seven days; she becomes his wife with her retinue and leaves her clothes and ornaments at dawn. Kāmeśvarī: "oṃ hrīṃ āgaccha kāmeśvari svāhā", her image drawn in gorocanā on birch bark, a thousand repetitions a day from the bed for a month with a lamp of ghee and honey; she says "give me your command" and treats him as her husband, leaving wealth and ornaments at dawn. Ratisundarī: a doll painted on cloth, golden and fair, worshipped with sandal and jasmine, "oṃ hrīṃ āgaccha ratisundari svāhā" a thousand and eight times a day; after a month she comes at midnight and, adorned with a jasmine garland, becomes his wife in a lonely place. Padminī: at home beside Śiva, "oṃ hrīṃ āgaccha padmini svāhā", the dark goddess on a lotus seat, a thousand repetitions a day until the full moon; she keeps him like a husband with food and ornaments. Naṭinī, Viśvāmitra's vidyā, mighty and more than mighty: "oṃ hrīṃ naṭini svāhā" at the foot of an aśoka, the dancer who bewitches the three worlds, a thousand repetitions a day with meat offerings; after a month she frightens him a little at midnight, then offers a boon, and as mother, sister or wife gives a hundred gold coins, princesses and knowledge of past and future. Madhumatī: a woman drawn in saffron on birch bark inside an eight-petalled lotus, the crystal-white goddess with anklets and jewels, a thousand repetitions a day from the first lunar day to the full moon; she comes at dawn with maidens of gods, dānavas, gandharvas, vidyādharas, yakṣas and rākṣasas, brings whatever is in the three worlds, gives a hundred gold coins a day and makes him long-lived, healthy, all-knowing, handsome and able to go everywhere — her mantra "oṃ hrīṃ āgacchānurāgiṇi maithunapriye svāhā". Then the knower of mantra should do breath control with the root mantra. He should do the six-limbed nyāsa with the māyā bīja and draw an eight-petalled lotus. On that lotus he should perform the life-nyāsa of the great mantra. Having invoked the goddesses of the seat he should meditate on the goddess beloved of the world: like the full moon, fair, wearing bright clothes, with full high breasts, lovely, giving safety to all. Having meditated thus he should give foot-water and the rest with the root mantra. Again he should offer incense and then the food offering with the root mantra, and perfume, sandal and betel with camphor, very fine. The praṇava, then the Bhuvaneśī bīja, then 'āgaccha surasundari' and the wife of fire — this mantra the wise man should repeat a thousand times at the three junctures every day, always meditating on the goddess.
