Shastra pujan on Vijayadashami
The speaker says the first thing on Vijayadashami is shastra pujan, ayudh pujan: every Sanatan-dharmi home should have a weapon, and it is worshipped that day. At the puja place the weapon is bathed with panchamrit and panchgavya, then with Gangajal, given roli-kumkum tilak, shown dhoop and deep, and then offered to Bhagavati and placed beside her, with dhoop-deep pujan.
What are the first rules of any karmakand?
For an example, he says, this thing is written everywhere, in any karmakand there may be, whether of the tantra kand: that when you sit for pujan, its full fruit from beginning to end — what is the first thing? Brother, the niyam of snan. The second is the niyam of vastra.
What is the difference between chal and achal pratishtha?
In a house there is chal pratishtha; in a temple it is achal, he says. For the house you will get many options — that if you do it, well, and if you do not, that too will do. But if you have had achal pratishtha done, then brother, there the rule is that their aarti should take place morning and evening. As far as possible let the pujan be as much as it can, the rule being shodashopachara pujan; but at the least the aarti should certainly take place morning and evening.
How should a Narmadeshwar be served at home?
Narmadeshwar ji, he tells the questioner who wishes to bring one: absolutely bring it and do the seva. Their daily snan and shringar should take place, and a mukut should certainly be on the head, on the crown.
How is Batuk Bhairav given a place in the home?
If you take diksha in some parampara and worship after that, the speaker says the matter is very good. Otherwise, give Batuk Bhairav a place at home in his symbolic form upon a trishul. The trishul may be of iron; keep one of six inches, of twelve inches, or up to a hand's length, as you wish, and a Bhairav sthan may be made that way.
Is it wrong to keep a large weapon in the house?
The speaker names Pawan Sinha — a very great guide and astrologer, he says — in whose videos it is said that a large weapon should not be kept at home and a small one should. He tells listeners not to pay attention to such backward talk: both shastra and shastra should be in a Sanatani's home. Learn to protect yourself, because nobody will come to protect you.
People are at last searching the shastras to see whether Bhadrakali really sweeps, and who Bhadrakali actually is
At least people are now waking up and trying to know, he says: whether it is really written that Bhadrakali ji cannot even wield a broom or a sweeping cloth; whether that is so; who Bhadrakali actually is; and what the proof in the shastra is. Proof is being searched for and people are posting it. His own work, he says, is only to stop the new people who are about to be led astray.
What is the difference between the Devi Bhagavat and the Devi Mahabhagavat Purana?
Both are two different granths, he answers. As to which publisher's purana one should take, take any publisher's — both are all right in his view, there is no very great difference. Whether you read the Maha Devi Bhagavat Mahapurana, that is proper, and whether you read the Devi Purana, that too.
What is gained by studying and meditating on the shastras of a deity?
Asked what benefit comes from reading the shastras connected with a deity, understanding them and meditating upon that knowledge, he answers that this will be known only when you do it — it is a matter of experience.
Should a man delay in taking up a weapon for his wife?
The speaker says the description is given so that a man, as soon as his panigrahan sanskar has taken place and he has chosen his ardhangini, should not delay in taking up weapons if any other man attempts such a wrong deed. Here it is Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh — the root of sanatan, from whom sanatan arose — through whom this picture has been placed: if anyone casts a kudrishti toward your wedded wife, you must not delay even half an instant in raising a weapon.
What should be done on Navami and on Dashami of Navratri?
By Ashtami we have completed the whole paath and japa, whatever was to be done. On Navami we have the havan and the kanya bhojan and the rest done. And on the Dashami tithi, in the morning, the pujan of Shami ji and the Aparajita pujan. If you wish to do a paath on that day, do the paath of the kavach, do the paath of the Tantrokta Devi Suktam, do the paath of the Sahasranama and so on, and after that the ayudh pujan.
When is the ayudh pujan done on Ram Navami?
Since it is Ram Navami, shastra pujan will certainly take place. The vidhi of ayudh pujan he has given on the channel in a general way. It is done before the paran, at midday on Ram Navami; it can also be done on the morning of Dashami, but since it is Ram Navami, the ayudh pujan should be done at midday on Ram Navami — after the kanya pujan and so on, at around two or three in the afternoon.
What follows the ayudh pujan on Dashami?
It is done before the paran; on Dashami too it can be done in the morning, but since it is Ram Navami it should be done at midday on Ram Navami. When the kanya pujan and the rest are over, do it in the evening, around two or three o'clock. And on Dashami, after performing this vidhi, if the bandhan of the house is to be done then we will do the griha bandhan, and after that, performing the visarjan vidhi and the rest, we will do the visarjan.
Can a trishul be placed in the havan kund on Ashtami?
He answers that you can absolutely place the Bharat trishul in the havan kund and do havan on every Ashtami; there is no difficulty. There is no problem in an iron trishul; you can do it.
What should be done with the shivling first thing in the morning?
Asked whether the shivling should be lifted from the arghi and wiped after abhishek, the speaker first sets out the morning order. Suppose the seva, puja and shringar were done today; then next morning at dawn, when you do pujan before sunrise or as your state allows, the very first thing is to take off the nirmalya and give the lingam one round of abhishek right there and then — bathing away all the chandan, bhasma and whatever shringar was applied — without any of the rest of the preparation.
Should water be sprinkled on all the devi-devatas?
No — the speaker says you are not to sprinkle water upon all the devatas and devi-devatas. He says he is saying this with particular reference to the rules of Shravan and the like; for simple ordinary people who do it by deva vidhan, the matter should be according to their own way, as they do it.
What must be kept on the head of the shivling after bathing it?
After the nirmalya has been removed and the bath given, the crown must certainly remain upon the head. If you do not keep a crown, then place unbroken rice there again, or a washed bilva leaf or a new bilva leaf — certainly offer it upon their head. Do not keep it bare in that way.
Before taking up the Durga Saptashati Maha Yantra avarana pujan, write in about your existing practice
Asked by Prakhar about the videos of the avarana pujan of the Shri Durga Saptashati Maha Yantra, the speaker says: message or mail first. He wants to know what the questioner does by way of pujan-path, because it is an intricate subject and a long one when you watch and perform it — and it will become clear whether one is able to carry it out or not.
Should roli be offered on Shiva ji, and what must not be?
The speaker clarifies once more: roli can absolutely be offered upon Shiva ji, and haridra chandan can absolutely be offered upon Shiva ji. What should not be offered is sindoor. The sindoor that comes — the red, the katha, whatever sindoor it be — should not be offered upon Shiva ji, upon the shivling; offer that to Parvati ji. In his own view it should not be offered on the arghya either. But kumkum, roli and all these you may offer, and haridra chandan you may offer.
What is the pramaan for kumkum and chandan on the lingam?
The speaker cites कुमकुम चंदन लेपित लिंगम — a line listeners will have read in Adi Shankaracharya ji's Lingashtakam. The proof from the Shiv Mahapuran, he says, will come to us further on: when the discourse of Upamanyu ji is taken up and the Vayaviya Samhita is studied, all of this description will come in it too.
At which point of the sixteen upacharas does the abhishek fall?
Asked by Jignesh ji whether, after padya, arghya and achman, the abhishek happens in the place of the snan, the speaker says yes. One thing is that the sixteen upachara pujan is done first; but when you have a special abhishek to do, then at the time of the snan you will do the abhishek after the snan and then carry out the whole of what follows. Many people do this twice over, he says, but it is proper that the abhishek take place at the very time of the snan, and only then the further pujan.
What should be offered daily at a Shivalaya in the simplest way?
Asked what should be offered daily in a Shivalaya temple in a simple way, the speaker says that first of all, if nothing else, after doing abhishek with water one should offer upon Shiva ji even a single bilva leaf, or a leaf of Shami ji, or a lotus flower — whichever you can obtain. And unbroken rice should be offered. That much; and if possible, along with it make their tripundra with bhasma, or make it with chandan. This should be done, and a lepan of chandan and the like should be made.
Can durva be offered on Shiva ji?
Asked whether durva can be offered on Shiva ji, the speaker answers that it absolutely can be offered.
May one get a tattoo of Mahadev?
Asked by a listener who wishes to have a tattoo of Mahadev made, he says: have it made — in his view one should have the pratik chinh of God made. If you have symbolic pictures connected with Mahadev made, the trishul, the damru, all such things, then it is more beneficial. And if you have a mantra or the like written, it should not be Vedic.
When is the Havan, and how does the Navratri close?
The Havan may be done after the Sandhi Pujan on the 30th if your Anushthan is complete, but the most special time is Mahanavami, Wednesday the 1st of October — look at the Choghadiya, take Shubh and Amrit and leave the Rahu Kaal out. Ayudh Puja falls the same day; Aparajita and Shami Puja on the 2nd, then the Visarjan and the Paran.
A symbolic sharp weapon at the main door is the third fixture, kept for the Kula Bhairav
The presence, at the main door of the house, of a symbolic astra-shastra for the sake of the Kula Bhairav. Formerly, he says, sharp weapons of some kind were kept near the main door in front of everyone's house — small or large, symbolic — and it was upon these that the Bhairava of the kula used to be worshipped.
Can Ma Kali's beej mantra be tattooed on the hand?
A listener asks whether Ma Kali's beej mantra may be tattooed on the hand, noting that a film star has had such a tattoo made. The speaker says he is in favour of having a symbol made — one should certainly have the symbol of one's aradhya made: have the Sudarshan chakra made, have the Kaumodaki gada made, have Kali ji's khadag made. About a beejakshar he becomes nineteen-twenty, because it is not known what the niti and niyam of your life are, whether favourable or unfavourable; in that he will not say yes. A pratik chinh you may certainly have made. Mantras and shlokas, in his view, are better written by those who are extremely dedicated to their aradhya and who never come into doubt about their aradhya — if in some form we were to sense that our aradhya was asking for our head, cutting our throat, and we would not take a moment in giving it, then have that mantra written. For the rest, your own viveka and intelligence: have beautiful symbols made, and go into writing mantras only if the surrender, the dedication, is of that level.
How should the Shri Narayana Kavach be done?
He tells Virendra Prajapati ji that if you are a param Vaishnava — that is, if you do not eat garlic and onion, do not eat carrot and radish — then you are capable of obtaining the full effect of the Narayana Kavach, because the particular effect of diet is described not by him but by the Vaishnava acharyas. A param Vaishnava obtains the full effect of the Narayana Kavach: that is the very first thing. The vidhan of purashcharan you should do in the month of Kartik — beginning in Kartik, or from the day of the Shraadh Purnima, you should begin the anushthan of the Shri Narayana Kavach. Along with the Narayana Kavach you should also do puja of the ayudhas of Bhagavan Narayan; and however many forms are spoken of in the Narayana Kavach, when the ahuti for their protection is given, that is when you do havan, the ahuti will be of those same forms. And at the least, 24000 is held for it — that is, 24000 japa has to be done, which is not impossible; you should do it over at least a year, two years, three years.
What about the astra puja and naag puja in Ganesh ji's tantric worship?
Asked about the astra puja and the naag puja in the tantric puja of Ganesh ji, the speaker says that of the naag puja there is no video, but a video of the astra puja had been made. He will upload it again before this time's Bhadrapada month: how the astra puja of Ganpati has to be done.
Read the shastra yourself instead of believing a speaker, and understand your own devata for yourself.
Come out of the duragraha that grips you, he says, and understand your own ishwar, your own devata, the swaroop of your own Bhagavan. This will not happen merely by his saying so — why should you believe him, he may be telling you something fabricated. Open your own shastras and Puranas: read the Shiv Mahapuran, and if you get time read the Ling Puran, so that you become able to answer others properly.
What is gained by searching out a mantra for yourself?
Read your shastra yourself so that nobody can answer you back, so that you become capable of answering others, and so that your faith in your devatas, your ishta and your aradhya increases. When you see some mantra on the channel, search for it: in searching, ten other things will come to your knowledge, you will be motivated according to shastra, and you will come out of confusion — after which your development follows intellectually, spiritually and materially alike.
Can Bhairav ji's trishul be installed in the puja place?
Absolutely, the speaker answers. He adds that Martand Bhairav is worshipped in the south and is a form of Bhairav ji himself, whose Pauranik katha will be told separately. Asked another question, he says one may certainly do japa while taking Bhagavati's name as well.
Can an old brass trishul already kept beside Bhagavati be used for Bhairav puja?
If nothing has previously been consecrated upon that old brass — that is, if no astra pujan or similar vidhi has already been performed on it — then you may perform on it, in the name of Batuk Bhairav ji, the vidhi he has given: cleansing it with panchgavya and so on, and then doing it again upon that.
Shulini Durga is offered for those with many enemies, one person dedicated to her alone
Shulini Durga they are giving, the speaker says, only because many people have very great trouble from enemies, and the enemies are not one but more than one; so for those people there is Shulini Durga and the rest. For them a separate person will remain, who will do only and entirely Shulini Durga. As for the khadga and the particular kavachas and the like, those they have not put on the channel or on the website: contact personally and you may say what you need. In this very Navratri they will make that arrangement. If you tell them after Navratri then it will take him more time, since it is not possible for him alone to do that much japa — and he cannot say, here, take it, brother, since you are hardly coming to watch. In Navratri there is time and there are people, so at this time everything can happen: talk to them and say whether you want a khadga or whatever, the Kalika khadga and so forth, and the whole arrangement will be made in time. If you do it later, then fifteen days will have to be given for the japa and the rest.
