Chapter 325·The circling and the four marriages·Verses 1–
The bride and groom walk the lovely rounds, and all take the gain for their eyes with respect. The pair is beyond description, and any likeness falls short. Their reflections gleam in the jewelled pillars, as if Love and Rati had taken many forms to watch the matchless wedding. Eager to look yet shy, they show and hide again and again, and all the watchers are lost, forgetting themselves like Janaka. The sages happily complete the rounds and all customs, and Rāma puts vermilion on Sītā's parting, a beauty beyond telling. Vasiṣṭha then bids the groom and bride sit on one seat, and Daśaratha is glad in his heart. Janaka then calls Māṇḍavī, Śrutakīrti and Ūrmilā. The first, daughter of Kuśaketu, he gives to Bharata; the younger sister of Jānakī he gives to Lakṣmaṇa; and the lovely Śrutakīrti he gives to Śatrughna. Each pair matches, and all the lovely brides and groom sit in one pavilion, like the soul and its four states with the Lord.

The groom and bride took the lovely rounds, and everyone gladly took the gain for his eyes. The pair cannot be described — whatever likeness I offer is too little.

It was like a lotus brimming with red pollen, the serpent greedy for nectar adorning the moon. Then Vasiṣṭha gave the order, and groom and bride sat together on one seat.
Explanation

Rāma and Jānakī sat on the best seat, and Daśaratha was glad in his heart. His body thrilled again and again as he saw new fruits on the wishing tree of his own good deeds. Joy filled the worlds, and all said Rāma's wedding was done; how could one tongue tell this great good fortune?

Knowing Jānakī's younger sister to be the crown of all beauties, he gave her to Lakṣmaṇa, honouring him in every way. The one named Śrutakīrti, fair-eyed, sweet-faced and full of every virtue, he gave to Śatrughna — a lamp of beauty and good nature.

Each bride suited her groom; they looked at one another shyly and rejoiced in their hearts. All were glad, praised the beauty, and the gods rained flowers. The lovely brides with their lovely grooms shone in one pavilion, as the four states of the soul shine in the heart together with the Lord.
Explanation
The four states of the soul are waking, dream, deep sleep and the fourth; the Lord is the one beyond them.
