जसि रघुबीर ब्याह बिधि बरनी
As the wedding of Raghubīra was described, so were all the princes married by the same rite. The dowry, gold and jewels filling the pavilion, cannot be told: blankets, silks, cloth of many kinds, elephants, chariots, horses, servants, and decorated cows like wishing cows. So many things cannot be counted; those who saw them know. The guardians of the worlds were envious, but Daśaratha took it all with joy and gave what pleased to the beggars; the rest went to the lodging. Then Janaka with folded hands honoured the whole procession, bowed to the sages and begged the gods and all of them with folded hands, as if the gods and holy men could be satisfied with a handful of water as the ocean of love. He spoke to the king of Kosala and his brother: by this connection we are now great in every way, and please look on us as servants with all this kingdom. Take these girls as maids, favour them with new mercy, and forgive any fault in calling you to us. The jewel of the sun's line honoured him as equally. Flowers rained from the gods, the king went to the lodging, and the sound of victory and the Vedas rose. Then the friends, with the sage's leave, led the bridal pairs to the bridal chamber singing auspicious songs.जैसी रघुवीर के विवाह की विधि कही गई, उसी रीति से सब राजकुमार ब्याहे गए। दहेज इतना था कि कहा नहीं जाता; सोने और मणियों से मंडप भर गया था। कम्बल, वस्त्र, रंग-बिरंगे रेशमी कपड़े, बहुत मूल्य के; हाथी, रथ, घोड़े, दास-दासियाँ और अलंकृत गायें, मानो कामधेनु हों। अनेक वस्तुओं का हिसाब कैसे हो, जिन्होंने देखा वही जानते हैं। लोकपाल देखकर ललचाए, पर अवधपति ने सब सुख मानकर ले लिया। जो जिसे भाया वह राजा ने याचकों को दे दिया; जो बचा वह जनवासे में आया। तब जनक ने हाथ जोड़कर कोमल वाणी में सारी बारात का सम्मान किया और आदर, दान, विनय और बड़ाई करके मुनियों की पूजा की और प्रेम से भेंट की। सिर नवाकर और देवताओं को मनाकर सबसे हाथ जोड़कर बोले — देवता और साधु भाव के भूखे हैं, क्या सागर अंजलि के जल से तृप्त होता है? फिर जनक ने हाथ जोड़कर बन्धुओं सहित कोसलराज से मनोहर, स्नेह और शील भरे वचन कहे — हे राजन्, आपके सम्बन्ध से हम अब सब तरह बड़े हो गए; इस राज-साज समेत हमें सेवक जानिए, बिना मूल्य लिए। इन कन्याओं को दासी समझकर नई करुणा से पालिएगा; बुलाकर भेजने का अपराध क्षमा कीजिएगा, मैंने बहुत ढिठाई की। फिर सूर्यकुल के भूषण ने भी समधी को सब सम्मान दिया; दोनों में परस्पर विनय और ऐसा प्रेम था जो हृदय में समाता न था। देवता फूल बरसाते हैं, राजा जनवासे गए; नगाड़ों, जय-ध्वनि और वेद-ध्वनि के साथ आकाश और नगर में उत्सव हुआ। तब सखियाँ मुनीश की आज्ञा पाकर मंगल गाती हुई वर-वधुओं को लेकर कोहबर चलीं। सीता बार-बार राम को देखती हैं, संकोच करती हैं, पर मन नहीं सकुचता; प्रेम के प्यासे उनके नेत्र मनोहर मछली की शोभा हर रहे हैं।

जैसी रघुवीर के विवाह की विधि कही गई, वैसी ही रीति से सब राजकुमार ब्याहे गए। बहुत दहेज कहा नहीं जाता; मंडप सोने और मणियों से भर गया था।
As the rites of Raghubīra's wedding were told, all the princes were married by the same rite. The great dowry cannot be told: the pavilion was full of gold and jewels.

कम्बल, वस्त्र, विचित्र रेशमी कपड़े, भाँति-भाँति के और बहुत मूल्य के; हाथी, रथ, घोड़े, दास-दासियाँ और सजी हुई गायें, मानो कामधेनु हों।
Blankets, cloths, strange silks of many kinds and great value; elephants, chariots, horses, men and women servants, and decorated cows like wishing cows.

अनेक वस्तुओं का हिसाब कैसे हो? कहा नहीं जाता; जिन्होंने देखा वही जानते हैं। लोकपाल देखकर ललचाए और अवधपति ने सब सुख मानकर ले लिया।
How can the many things be counted? They cannot be told; only those who saw them know. The guardians of the worlds looked and envied, and the lord of Avadh took it all, content.

जो जिस याचक को भाया वह उसे दे दिया; जो बचा वह जनवासे में आया। तब सारी बारात का सम्मान करके जनक ने हाथ जोड़कर कोमल वाणी में कहा।
Whatever pleased each beggar he gave; what was left came to the lodging. Then Janaka, with folded hands, spoke gently, having honoured the whole procession.

आदर, दान, विनय और बड़ाई से सारी बारात का सम्मान करके जनक ने अति प्रसन्न होकर मुनिसमूह की प्रेम से पूजा करके वन्दना की। सिर नवाकर, देवताओं को मनाकर और सबसे हाथ जोड़कर वे बोले — देवता और साधु भाव चाहते हैं; क्या सागर अंजलि का जल देने से संतुष्ट होता है?
Having honoured the whole procession with respect, gifts, humility and praise, Janaka, greatly glad, bowed to the company of sages and worshipped them with love. He bowed his head, begged the gods and all of them with folded hands, and said: gods and holy men want only feeling — is the ocean ever pleased with a cupped handful of water?

फिर जनक ने हाथ जोड़कर भाई सहित कोसलराज से स्नेह, शील और स्वभाव में सने मनोहर वचन कहे — हे राजन्, आपके सम्बन्ध से हम अब सब प्रकार बड़े हो गए। इस राज्य-साज समेत हमें बिना कुछ लिए अपना सेवक जानिए।
Then Janaka, with folded hands, spoke to the king of Kosala and his brother in lovely words steeped in affection, goodness and nature: 'O king, by this tie we have become great in every way. Know us as servants, with this kingdom and all its array, having taken nothing in return.'

इन कन्याओं को दासी और परिचारिका मानकर नई करुणा से पालिएगा। बुलाने का अपराध क्षमा कीजिएगा — मैंने बहुत ढिठाई की। फिर सूर्यकुल के भूषण ने समधी को सब प्रकार से सम्मान दिया; दोनों में परस्पर प्रेम से भरी जो विनती हुई, वह कही नहीं जाती।
'Look after these girls as maids and attendants, with new kindness. Forgive the fault of calling you here — I have been very bold.' Then the ornament of the sun's line honoured his co-father-in-law in every way, and the pleas they made to each other, full of love, cannot be told.

देवता फूल बरसाते हैं और राजा जनवासे चले; दुन्दुभी, जयध्वनि और वेदध्वनि के साथ आकाश और नगर में सुन्दर कौतुक हुआ। तब सखियाँ मुनीश की आज्ञा पाकर मंगल गान करती हुई वर-वधुओं को लेकर कोहबर चलीं।
The gods rained flowers and the king went to the lodging; the sound of drums, victory and the Vedas rose, and the sky and city were full of lovely excitement. Then the friends, with the sage's leave, singing auspicious songs, led the brides and grooms to the bridal chamber.

सीता बार-बार राम को देखतीं और संकोच करतीं, पर मन संकोच नहीं करता; प्रेम के प्यासे उनके नयन मनोहर मछली की शोभा हर रहे थे।
Again and again Sītā looked at Rāma and felt shy, yet her heart was not shy; her eyes, thirsty for love, took the lovely charm of a fish.
