Śiva sets out his five acts and the five faces that bear them, then, to end Brahmā and Viṣṇu's forgetful pride, formally initiates them into the praṇava — born as A, U, M, bindu and nāda from his five mouths and fused into one syllable — and into the pañcākṣara mantra born from it. Here ends the tenth chapter — “The Account of the Teaching of Oṃkāra” — in the first Saṃhitā, that of Vidyeśvara, of the venerable Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.
