Brahmā and the other gods, siddhas and sages mount their airships and watch from the sky, and Śiva says he too was there, watching Rāma's play in the battle. Warriors on both sides are drunk with fighting, and the monkeys, strong by Rāma's might, are winning. They fight one another, cut, seize and dash each other down, tearing heads, bellies and arms and smashing warriors to the earth. Bears bury night-rangers in the ground and pour sand upon them. The monkeys, enraged like Death, shine with flowing blood and roar like clouds, striking with slaps, teeth and feet, and shouting; they use all kinds of tricks and strength to wear the wicked ones down. They tear cheeks, split chests, and put intestines round their necks, like Prahlāda's lord in many bodies sporting in the courtyard of war. The cry 'Seize, kill, cut, throw down' fills sky and earth. 'Victory to Rāma, who makes a straw a thunderbolt and a thunderbolt a straw.' Seeing his own army give way, Rāvaṇa, with twenty arms and ten bows, climbs his chariot and rushes out, shouting, 'Turn back, turn back, proud ones!'ब्रह्मा आदि देवता, सिद्ध और अनेक मुनि विमानों पर चढ़कर आकाश से युद्ध देखते हैं, और शिव कहते हैं कि वे भी वहाँ साथ थे और राम का युद्ध-चरित देख रहे थे। दोनों ओर के योद्धा युद्ध के रस में मतवाले हैं, और वानर राम के बल से विजयी हो रहे हैं। वे एक-दूसरे से भिड़ते, ललकारते, मारते, काटते, पकड़ते और पटकते हैं; सिर तोड़कर सिरों से मारते हैं, पेट फाड़ते और भुजाएँ उखाड़ते हैं, पैर पकड़कर योद्धाओं को धरती पर पटकते हैं। भालू राक्षसों को धरती में गाड़कर ऊपर से बहुत बालू डाल देते हैं। क्रुद्ध काल जैसे वानर शरीर से बहते रक्त से शोभित हैं और बादलों की तरह गरजते हैं; थप्पड़ मारते, दाँतों से काटते, लातों से मसलते और चिंघाड़ते हैं, और ऐसे छल-बल करते हैं जिनसे दुष्ट छीजते जाएँ। वे गाल पकड़कर फाड़ते हैं, छाती चीरते हैं, गले में आँतों की माला डालते हैं, मानो प्रह्लाद के स्वामी नृसिंह अनेक शरीर धरकर युद्ध के आँगन में खेल रहे हों। 'पकड़ो, मारो, काटो, पटको' की घोर ध्वनि आकाश और धरती में भर गई। जय हो राम की, जो तिनके को वज्र और वज्र को तिनका कर देते हैं। अपनी सेना को पीछे हटते देख बीस भुजाओं और दस धनुषों वाला रावण रथ पर चढ़कर 'लौटो, लौटो, घमंडियो' कहता हुआ चल पड़ा।

ब्रह्मा आदि देवता, सिद्ध और अनेक मुनि विमानों पर चढ़कर आकाश से युद्ध देख रहे थे। उमा, मैं भी उनके साथ था और रण में राम की लीला देख रहा था।
Brahmā and the other gods, siddhas and many sages mounted their airships and watched the battle from the sky. Umā, I too was with them, watching Rāma's deeds in the field of battle.

दोनों ओर के शूरवीर युद्ध के रस में मतवाले थे; वानर राम के बल से बलवान होकर जीत रहे थे। वे एक-दूसरे से भिड़ते, ललकारते और एक-दूसरे को मसलकर धरती पर गिरा देते थे।
The fine warriors on both sides were drunk with the joy of battle; the monkeys, strong by Rāma's might, were winning. They fought one another, challenged one another, and ground one another down to the earth.

३3मारहिं काटहिं धरहिं पछारहिं। सीस तोरि सीसन्ह सन मारहिं ॥उदर बिदारहिं भुजा उपारहिं। गहि पद अवनि पटकि भट डारहिं ॥

वे मारते, काटते, पकड़ते और पटकते थे; सिर तोड़कर उन्हीं सिरों से मारते थे। पेट फाड़ते, भुजाएँ उखाड़ते, और योद्धाओं के पैर पकड़कर उन्हें धरती पर पटक देते थे।
They struck, cut, seized and dashed down; they broke off heads and struck with them. They tore bellies, pulled out arms, and gripped warriors by the feet and flung them to the ground.

काल के समान क्रुद्ध वानर शरीर से बहते रक्त से शोभित थे। बलवान वीर राक्षसों की सेना को कुचलते और बादलों की तरह गरजते थे। वे थप्पड़ मारते, दाँतों से काटते और लातों से मसलते थे। वानर और भालू चिंघाड़ते थे और ऐसे छल-बल करते थे जिनसे दुष्ट छीजते जाएँ।
Angry as Death himself, the monkeys shone with blood streaming from their bodies. The strong ones trampled the night-rangers' host and roared like clouds. They struck with slaps, bit with teeth, crushed with kicks. The monkeys and bears shouted and used tricks and force by which the wicked would wear away.

छंद २छंद 2धरि गाल फारहिं उर बिदारहिं गल अँतावरि मेलहीं।प्रहलादपति जनु बिबिध तनु धरि समर अंगन खेलहीं ॥धरु मारु काटु पछारु घोर गिरा गगन महि भरि रही।जय राम जो तृन ते कुलिस कर कुलिस ते कर तृन सही ॥

They seized cheeks and tore them, split chests, and hung intestines round necks, as though the lord of Prahlāda had taken many bodies and was playing in the courtyard of war. 'Seize, kill, cut, throw down!' the fierce cry filled sky and earth. 'Victory to Rāma, who turns a straw into a thunderbolt, and a thunderbolt into a straw!'
