Chapter Seven · The Listener's Rules · Verses 1–50

Sūta gives the rules for those who take the vow of hearing the Śiva Purāṇa — initiation, chastity, the ground for a bed, the leaf-plate, the foods to avoid, the virtues to keep — then the concluding rite, the worship and gift of the book and its reciter, and the fruit of giving it away. The Māhātmya closes with two verses of refuge.
