राम चरित चिंतामनि
Rāma's story is a fair wishing-jewel and the lovely ornament of the good mind. It is the world's good, the qualities of Rāma that give freedom, wealth, dharma and the holy home. It is the true guru of knowledge and dispassion, the healer of the fearful sickness of the world; the seed of all vows, dharma and rules, and of love for Sītā and Rāma. It ends sin, pain and grief, and is dear protector in this world and the next. It is a minister, a brave soldier, a king's judgement, a Kumbhaja to the sea of greed. It is a lion's cub to the elephant herd of lust, anger and the dirt of the age in the forest of the mind; the dear guest, the rain-cloud on the forest fire of poverty. It is a great jewel-mantra against the snake of the senses, wiping out ill marks on the brow; sun-rays against the dark of delusion; rain-cloud for the rice of its servants. It is a wish-giving tree, easy to serve, a giver of joy like Hari and Hara; a moon in the autumn sky for the good poet, like the dear wealth of life to Rāma's devotees; the many fruits of merit, the honest friends of the world, a swan in the lake of the servant's mind, a wave of the Gaṅgā-fire. It is a great jewel-spell against the snake of the senses, wiping off the hard ill marks of fate from the brow. It takes away the dark of delusion like the sun's rays, and feeds its servants, who are like rice, as the rain-cloud does.
