नाम बड़ ब्रह्म तें

The formless and the formed are the two forms of Brahman, both beyond telling, deep, without beginning and without match. In the poet's opinion the name is greater than both, for the name has made the two ages of the formless and the formed come under its own power. He asks the good not to take this as a boast of a servant; he is telling what he believes, loves and likes. One is seen like fire in wood, the other like fire in the open; the discernment of the two is as of one fire. Both are hard to reach, and easy by the name; so he calls the name greater than Brahman and Rāma. Brahman is one, all-pervading, undying, truth, awareness, a mass of bliss. Though such a Lord dwells in the heart, all beings in the world are poor and sad. Explaining the name and trying to use it, that very thing shows itself, as a jewel does when its price is known. The dohā says that in this way the power of the name is greater than the formless, boundless; and the poet says, by his own thought, the name is greater than Rāma. निर्गुण और सगुण ब्रह्म के दो रूप हैं, दोनों अकथनीय, अथाह, अनादि और अनुपम। कवि के मत में नाम इन दोनों से बड़ा है, क्योंकि नाम ने अपने बल से दोनों को अपने वश में कर रखा है। वह कहता है कि सज्जन इसे सेवक का अहंकार न समझें; वह अपने मन की प्रतीति, प्रीति और रुचि कहता है। एक लकड़ी में छिपी आग की तरह दिखता है, दूसरा प्रकट आग जैसा; दोनों ब्रह्म का विवेक एक ही अग्नि जैसा है। दोनों पाना कठिन है, पर नाम से सरल है; इसलिए कवि ने नाम को ब्रह्म और राम से बड़ा कहा। ब्रह्म एक है, व्यापक है, अविनाशी है, सत्, चेतन और आनन्द की राशि। ऐसा प्रभु हृदय में रहते हुए भी जगत् के सब जीव दीन और दुखी हैं। नाम का निरूपण करने और नाम का यत्न करने से वही ब्रह्म प्रकट हो जाता है, जैसे रत्न का मोल जानने से वह प्रकट होता है। दोहे में है कि इस प्रकार निर्गुण से नाम का प्रभाव बड़ा और अपार है; और कवि अपने विचार के अनुसार कहता है कि नाम राम से भी बड़ा है।
