कहहु नाथ सुंदर दोउ बालक
Janaka asks: are these two beautiful boys ornaments of a sage's family or protectors of a royal line? Or is it the Brahman the Vedas call 'not this, not this' who has come in both forms? His mind is naturally detached, yet it is spellbound like a chakora by the moon, and he asks in truth, begging the sage to hide nothing. Looking at them, his mind has forcibly given up the bliss of Brahman. The sage smiles and says he has spoken well. They are dear to all beings, and Rāma smiles in his mind to hear it. They are sons of Daśaratha, sent to the sage by the king.
