Seeing the horse come, the boar fled with the speed of wind. The king quickly took aim, but the arrow sank into the ground at the very sight of it. The king shot arrow after arrow, but the boar used tricks to save his body; he appeared and hid and went off, and the deer ran away. The angry king followed. The boar went far into the thick, dense woods, where horses and elephants cannot go. In the great loneliness and heavy trouble of the forest, the king still did not give up the chase. Seeing the boar, the king, steady though he was, found him running into a deep mountain cave. Seeing it unreachable, the king grieved, turned back and became lost in the great forest. Weary, hungry and thirsty, the king and his horse looked for a river or lake and, with no water, fainted.
