Wandering in the forest he saw a hermitage, where a king lived in a sage's disguise. His country this king had taken from him, and he had left the battle and fled. Knowing Pratāpabhānu's time was good and his own bad, he was greatly dejected; he did not go home, and being proud, he would not meet the other king. Swallowing his anger like a poor man, the king lived in the forest dressed as an ascetic. The king went to him, and that Pratāpabhānu was recognised at once. The king was thirsty and did not know him; seeing the fair dress he took him for a great sage. He got down from the horse and bowed. Very clever, he did not give his own name. Seeing the king thirsty, the false sage showed him a lake. The king was glad to bathe and drink there with his horse.
