Chapter 78·Counsel to Sītā to stay·Verses 1–
The king tried many ways to keep Rāma, giving up all cunning, but he saw that Rāma's mind was fixed and would not stay. Then he took Sītā to his heart and gave her many kind counsels. He spoke of the forest's hard sorrows and told her of the comforts of life with her mother-in-law and father-in-law. But Sītā's heart was at Rāma's feet, and home was not easy for her, nor the forest hard. Other women, ministers' wives and the teacher's wife, spoke gently and explained again and again the trouble of the wilds. They said the king and the teacher had not told her to go; do what the teacher, the king and the mother-in-law say. Their cool, kind and sweet advice did not please Sītā, like moonlight on a cakravākī.
