Chapter 77·The king speaks of karma·Verses 1–
The king cannot speak, burning with grief. Rāma bows to his father with great love and asks leave: give me your blessing and command, why mourn at a time for gladness? Too much love, Father, could bring you blame in the world. The king, moved by love, rises and seats Rāma beside him. He says the sages call Rāma lord of all that moves and does not move. God gives fruit as he sees each deed, good or bad, and whoever does a deed receives its fruit; so say the scriptures. Yet the dohā marvels that one person does the wrong while another suffers, so strange are the ways of God that no one can fully know them.
