Saying this, the crooked woman stood up, like a river in flood of anger. She was a mountain of sin, filled with a flood of rage that none could look on. The two boons were its two banks, her hard stubbornness its stream, and the hunchback's words its whirlpool. It uprooted the tree of the king, and flowed on to the ocean of trouble. The king saw her words true, and death dancing over his head in the form of a woman. Holding her feet, he made her sit down: do not be an axe to the sun's line. Ask for my head, I will give it now, but do not kill me with grief for Rāma. Keep Rāma by any means, or my heart will burn all my life. Seeing his incurable pain, the king fell on the earth, beating his head, and said in great pain: Rāma, Rāma, Raghunātha.
