The Jñānārṇava tells the great worship of Śrīvidyā, the best atonement for brāhmaṇa-murder and the other sins. Worshipped as before for a month with china roses she destroys the sins of former births and makes one wealthy and wise; with young ketakī flowers she destroys the hosts of lesser sins and gives unequalled fortune; with hundred-petalled lotuses she destroys all sin; with campaka she kills the sin of a hundred births and gives fortune by Tripurā's grace; with large white lotuses she destroys the sin of twenty births and sets liberation in the hand; with bandhūka flowers the three worlds come under one's sway and past sin burns; with bilva leaves and parched grain one becomes prosperous and free of all sin; with jasmine, mālatī, kunda, hundred-petalled and white lotuses by the kula order she destroys the sin of a hundred births born of brāhmaṇa-murder, liberation is in his hand and he is Bṛhaspati's equal in speech; with agastya, bāṇa, bandhūka, china rose and red lotus for one month he destroys sin and becomes like Kāma himself; with campaka, pāṭala, bakula, nāgakeśara, kahlāra and sindhuvāra for a month he wins unequalled fortune and destroys the sin of a thousand births. Then the flowers of the seven days for a year — red lotuses, kumuda, red water-lilies, tagara, kahlāra, white lotuses and utpala — and the offerings, milk-rice, milk, plantain, butter, sugar and ghee; so worshipping the goddess for a year with perfumes and the rest he conquers planetary afflictions and enjoys happiness. The Matsyasūkta on Tārā and Kālī: worship with care on the eighth and the fourteenth, and whatever the mantra-holder asks he obtains; japa on the dark eighth gives sweet speech. Here the occasional rite is done after the daily worship; where no time is stated, it is to be done for half a month, a month, its double or a maṇḍala — so the Rudrayāmala, "half a month or a month, double or triple, until the fruit is gained", and another text, "in occasional and desire-born rites the fruit comes within a maṇḍala; if not, do it twice over". Worship of the goddess on the eighth grants every desire: a bali of plantain, jasmine and citron mixed with perfumes, a golden garland with perfumes, and fruit and milk with sugar — so one should worship Śivā with every effort for wealth and give to the goddess for the imperishable fruit. "अष्टमी और चतुर्दशी को प्रयत्न से पूजा करे; मन्त्री जो-जो माँगता है वह-वह सदा पाता है। कृष्णाष्टमी को सदा पूजा करे: मधुर वाणी पाता है।" यहाँ नित्य पूजा के बाद नैमित्तिक कर्म करना चाहिए। जहाँ काल का नियम नहीं दिखता, वहाँ आधा महीना, एक महीना, उसका दुगुना या एक मण्डल नैमित्तिक अनुष्ठान करना चाहिए।

Where no rule of time is seen, the occasional observance is to be done for half a month, a month, its double, or a maṇḍala.
