A nine-day Navratri sadhana for a householder with no diksha who cannot take leave from work
Tantrokta effect of the mantra without diksha
The speaker says he is giving a nine-day Navratri vidhan for an ordinary sadhak who has received no Diksha of any kind: which mantras of Bhagavati to jap on the nine days and what to observe, so that the Tantrokta — that is, the most intense — effect of the mantra is obtained, Jagadamba's grace comes and one's work is accomplished. The Durga Saptashati path is part of it. He says the whole vidhan is also for people who are working and cannot get leave but still want to keep Navratri; it fits work, daily life and the anushthan together, and is dedicated entirely to householders. He asks listeners to hear it calmly, reflect, and then prepare their own plan for the nine days.
Keeping Navratri for the first time: kalash sthapana on Pratipada and following the local muhurat
Anyone may begin in the new samvatsar
The speaker says that in the new samvatsar beginning, every person may do Navratri, even someone doing it for the very first time. Kalash sthapana is done on the day of Pratipada in a shubh muhurat; one may also follow the regional practice — whatever time the learned brahmins and scholars of one's area give — and on that day, as convenient, do the kalash and Ghatasthapana and light the Akhand Jyot. The full method of kalash sthapana, the vidhan of the akhand jyot and the rules of Navratri — what if the lamp goes out, how and when to do havan, which day the paran falls, how the nine-kanya pujan is done, and what a man does if Brahmacharya is broken by a nocturnal emission — he says are already given in separate videos and are not repeated here.
Sankalp on the first morning of the Navratri vrat: guru-Ganpati pujan, svastivachan, and stating the fast exactly
Say only the fast you will actually keep
The speaker says that on the first day of the Navratri Vrat, at the time of the morning pujan, one sits at one's place and takes the Sankalpa. Guru and Ganesha pujan come first, then Svastivacana, then the sankalp. If one does not know svastivachan, take Bhagwan Narayan's name three times, take Ganpati's name and do a Ganpati path, then with water, Akshat and flowers in hand resolve that one is taking the vow of the nine-day Navratri vrat. If one is not going to fast, or will fast only on the first and last days, he says to state that clearly in the sankalp itself.
The two limbs of the householder Navratri plan: Durga Saptashati by day, the tithi-wise Navdurga mantra by night
Path and japa carried together
The speaker says two things are carried together through the nine days. The first is the path of the Shri Durga Saptashati. The second is, in the night hours, doing Japa of the mantra of that form of Bhagavati Mahadurga which belongs to that day's Tithi, and obtaining her grace through it.
Asked how it is to be done, the speaker says there are two things to carry along. The first thing is to do the path of the Shri Durga Saptashati. The second thing is that in the night hours, according to whatever TithiA lunar calendar day — some idols (like a Shivling) need daily bathing regardless, while others only need it on their dedicated weekly day or tithi. it is, the form of BhagavatiThe Goddess addressed by her honorific, used across these talks for whichever form is under discussion. Mahadurga that belongs to that day is worshipped: one does Japa of that Durga form's mantra and obtains her grace.
Mala for Navratri japa: rakta chandan, rudraksha or sphatik, made pran-pratishthit first
Somvati Amavasya as a day to consecrate it
The speaker says the japa may be done on a rakta chandan Mala or a Rudraksha mala — either — and on a Sphatik mala as well. The mala should be given Prana Pratishtha and made chetan-yukt; the vidhan is on the channel. If it has not yet been consecrated, he says it can be done on the Somvati Amavasya that is falling, which is a divya kaal. Those who already have a Tantrokta rudraksha or similar mala received through him during some anushthan need do nothing to it and simply begin japping.
Durga Saptashati in the Navratri plan is read in the Mahavidya krama, not in full every day
The text split across the nine days
The speaker says the first thing to know is that the complete Saptashati path is not done every day; it is done in the Mahavidyas krama, whose full method he has given separately on the channel. He says he will also describe here how the nine days go together in that krama.
The speaker says the very first thing is that the full Saptashati path is not to be done daily. It will be done in the Mahavidyas krama. The complete method of the Mahavidya krama has been given separately on the channel, and one can see that and become clearer. He says he will also describe now how all nine days are to be done together.
Daily framework of the householder Navratri: fixed aarti times, path by morning, japa by night, dress, asana and direction
Family aarti first, then your own path
The speaker says the first day goes partly in Ghatasthapana itself; after that a morning and evening Aarti is a must, and if the family joins, do the aarti at a fixed time and do one's own path afterwards. The path in the Mahavidya krama is done in the morning; Bhagavati's mantras are japped in the night or at Sandhya. Make a full effort to wear red or yellow — it must be coloured: red, yellow or orange. The asana should be of Kusha, red or yellow, red being best, and one faces east or north.
Deities worshipped alongside Bhagavati in the Navratri vrat: Ganpati, Bhairav, Hanuman, Narsingh, and Datt as mahaguru
Akshat and flowers in four names is enough
The speaker says that along with Bhagavati one must worship Ganesha, Bhairava, Hanuman and Bhagwan Narasimha — all four. Even just offering Akshat and flowers in the four names makes the puja accepted, so one should not worry; if one knows the full vidhan, good, otherwise only this much. The way is: sit on the asana, do achaman, meditate on Ganpati and one's guru — and if one has no guru, on Bhagwan Dattatreya, the mahaguru of all, in whom Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are one — offer akshat and flowers in his name, then in Ganpati's, then in Batuk Bhairava's, and then begin the Durga Saptashati path.
Daily Saptashati path in the Mahavidya krama: no utkeelan or Mrityu Sanjeevani; kavach, argala, keelak, the day's adhyaya, then the Tantrokta Devi Suktam
The fixed daily wrapper around the adhyaya
The speaker says that when the Saptashati pujan and path are done in the Mahavidya krama there is no need to perform the utkeelan or the Mrityu Sanjeevani (sanjeevan) krama — he has explained this with proofs in a separate video. What is done is only the Kavach, argala and keelak, then the adhyaya for that day — on the first day the first adhyaya — and after the adhyaya, the path of the Tantrokta Devi Suktam, the stuti beginning 'ya devi sarvabhuteshu'. Kavach, argala and keelak are recited every day of the nine.
The speaker says that when one worships and does the Saptashati path in the Mahavidya krama, there is no need to do the utkeelan or the Mrityu Sanjeevani — the sanjeevan krama — at all. He has explained this separately in that video and given the proofs for it there. One has only to recite the Kavach, argala and keelak, and on the first day the first adhyaya. After reciting the first adhyaya, one recites the TantroktaStated in the tantras, as against a vedokta form of the same rite or mantra. Devi Suktam — the stuti that goes 'ya devi sarvabhuteshu'. Later in the plan he repeats the rule for every day: kavach, argala and keelak are done daily; the adhyayas are read as they fall in the Mahavidya krama; and after them the Tantrokta Devi Suktam is recited.
Navarna mantra samput around the Saptashati adhyaya for the undiksha reader: one mala each side or at least nine, without pranav
Fuller japa and siddhi need diksha
The speaker says that if one does the Navarna Mantra and the like, make a Samput with one Mala each side — one mala before the first adhyaya and one mala after. If one does not do that, do the Navarna at least nine times. It is done without Pranav. For fuller japa and the methods of siddhi and the like, he says, one should take Diksha and then do them.
Can the Durga Saptashati be read in Hindi when Sanskrit is not known?
Hindi with bhav now; learn Sanskrit at ten shlokas a day
The speaker says those who cannot do the path in Sanskrit should not do a wrong path; they should do the complete path in Hindi, with bhav. There is no problem in it — however much anyone says nothing happens in Hindi, Ma is hungry for bhav, and both things still come. But he is not saying one should read in Hindi for life: Sanskrit is to be learnt. Over two or three, four or five Navratris it slowly starts coming; give half an hour or fifteen minutes and it is learnt in six months; the Saptashati is only 700 shlokas, so at ten a day it is learnt in two months and ten days — just the pronunciation, not by heart — and then, he says, generation after generation is carried across. For now the ordinary person reads in Hindi.
The speaker says that those who do not know how to recite in Sanskrit should please not do a wrong path. Do the whole path in Hindi, with bhav. There is no trouble in it — however much anyone may say that nothing happens by reciting in Hindi, Ma is hungry for bhav; and yet, he says, both things come in. Do not worry; if you are doing it for the first time, start in Hindi. He says that as two or three, four or five Navratris pass, Sanskrit will slowly begin to come; you will begin to understand it and know what the subject is. After that, when you have time, practise Sanskrit — there are many videos on YouTube; watching them and practising, you will slowly be able to recite the Saptashati. He is not saying you should recite in Hindi for the rest of your life. You have to learn Sanskrit. Give half an hour, or fifteen minutes, and you will learn it in six months. Give very little time — it is only 700 shlokas; at ten shlokas a day you will learn it in two months and ten days, and that is just to pronounce it, not to memorise it. If you learn the Saptashati in two months and ten days, he says, know that generation upon generation will be carried across; remember that. But for now, for the ordinary person who does not know Sanskrit pronunciation, the path is done in Hindi.
Night japa vidhan on Pratipada: a karma sakshi lamp, offerings to the four guardians, and nine malas of Shailputri
Around eight, short, complete, and closed with cloves and camphor
The speaker says that on Pratipada night — or earlier, at Sandhya, once the Aarti is done with the family or alone — one sits again on the asana around eight o'clock. The Akhand Jyot is burning; light a separate Karma Sakshi lamp, offer Dhoop, deep and Naivedya, and offer Akshat and flowers in the names of the guru, Ganesha, Batuk Bhairava and Bhagwan Narasimha. Then jap nine Mala of the mantra of Bhagavati's first form, Shailputri Durga, and offer the japa to Bhagavati; that is all. If one wishes, light nine camphors and nine cloves in some vessel. The first day's pujan is complete; it takes little time, is authentic, and brings Bhagavati's full grace. The mantras of all nine Durgas for the nine nights are in one PDF he provides.
The speaker says that on the day of PratipadaThe first tithi of a fortnight, on which navaratra anushthans begin., in the night or at SandhyaThe twice- or thrice-daily prayer rite performed at dawn and dusk — Vedic Sandhya requires eligibility under Varnashrama, while those without it may instead undergo Tantrik initiation and perform Tantrik Sandhya., once the AartiA ritual of waving a lit lamp or flame before a deity's image, performed here at the close of Deepdan once the lamps begin to burn down. and the rest are done with the family or alone, one may jap earlier as well. Otherwise, around eight o'clock, sit again on your asana. The Akhand Jyot is burning; light one Karma Sakshi lamp separately as well, and do DhoopIncense offered during worship; its smoke is treated as an offering in its own right within the sequence of upacharas., deep, NaivedyaThe food offering (Bhog) presented to a deity during worship, accompanied by water offerings and dedicatory mantras. and so on. Offer AkshatUnbroken raw rice grains, held in hand along with water and flowers while taking a Sankalpa., flowers and the like in the names of the guru, Ganesha, Batuk Bhairava and Bhagwan Narasimha. After that comes the japa of BhagavatiThe Goddess addressed by her honorific, used across these talks for whichever form is under discussion.'s first form, Shailputri Durga. He says he is putting a PDF in the video description of which mantras are to be japped on each of the nine nights — what on Pratipada, what mantra of Brahmacharini on the second day — and nine malas of each are to be japped. So one japs nine Mala at night of the mantra of Shailputri Durga, the first form of Bhagavati, and offers it up to Bhagavati. That is all that has to be done. If one wishes, light nine camphors and nine cloves in some vessel. With that the first day's pujan is complete: it will take very little time, it will be completely authentic, and Bhagavati's full grace will be obtained.
Tithi-wise Navratri schedule, Pratipada to Ashtami: Saptashati adhyayas by day and the Navdurga form japped at night
Thirteen adhyayas by Saptami, the three Rahasyas on Ashtami
The speaker lays out the days. Every day: Kavach, argala and keelak, the day's adhyayas of the Durga Saptashati in the Mahavidya krama, then the Tantrokta Devi Suktam; and at night nine Mala of that day's Durga. Pratipada: adhyaya one; Shailputri at night. Dwitiya: adhyayas two and three; brahmacharini. Tritiya: adhyaya four; Chandraghanta. Chaturthi: adhyayas five to eight; Kushmanda. Panchami: adhyayas nine and ten; Skandamata. Shashthi: adhyaya eleven; Katyayani. Saptami: adhyayas twelve and thirteen, completing the thirteen; Kalratri. Ashtami: with kavach, argala and keelak, the three Rahasyas — Murti Rahasya and the others printed after the thirteen adhyayas and the Devi Suktam — and Mahagauri at night. The mantras of all nine Durgas are in one PDF he provides.
Navami in the householder Navratri: havan early, then kanya pujan, Siddhidatri at night, and the paran only on Dashami
Night sadhana continues even after purnahuti
The speaker says that on Navami the Havan is done early in the morning, because the Kanya Pujan has to follow; do Bhagavati's havan in the morning and then the kanya pujan, and that part is complete. But the paran is not taken yet — this is according to the vidhan he sees in the Vindhya region, and whoever offers other proofs, that is their own matter. On Navami night one japs nine Mala of Bhagavati Siddhidatri; the Purnahuti has been done, but the night sadhana that was running must still be done. The Paran is taken on Dashami.
Alternative for Navami: japping Mahagauri and Siddhidatri together on Ashtami night, with twenty-seven ahutis per Durga in the morning havan
A second road if the first raises doubt
The speaker says that if a doubt remains about japping on Navami night after the purnahuti, there is a second road. On Ashtami night, after the nine Mala of Mahagauri, jap nine malas of Bhagavati Siddhidatri as well, at the same sitting — both are done on Ashtami. Then on Navami morning, in the fire, give at least 27 Ahuti with the mantra of each of the nine Durgas; a woman offers with Guggul, a man with ghee. Taking the paran on Navami, he adds, is the listener's own matter to decide.
The speaker says that if a doubt sits in the mind — no, no, how can that be, how will we do it — there is no difficulty; there is a second road for you. On the AshtamiThe eighth tithi of a fortnight, held especially favourable for shakta rites. tithi itself, in the night, when you jap the nine Mala of Mahagauri, after that jap nine malas of BhagavatiThe Goddess addressed by her honorific, used across these talks for whichever form is under discussion. Siddhidatri as well, all at one go. On Ashtami night you have then japped both. On the NavamiThe ninth tithi of a fortnight, on which a navaratra anushthan is completed. tithi in the morning, give at least 27 Ahuti each into the fire with the mantras of every one of the nine Durgas. If you are a woman, offer with GuggulA fragrant resin burnt as dhoop or mixed with ghee for ahutis, used heavily in protective and prosperity rites.; if a man, offer with ghee. Do it this way, he says. He adds that he has tried to cover everything in this ordinary vidhan, and that if one wants to take the paran on Navami, that is one's own matter to look at as one sees fit.
Can a woman offer ahuti in the Navratri havan, and with what?
Not in the vedokta vidhan; yes in this tantrokta one
The speaker says a woman offers her Ahuti with Guggul and a man with ghee. Asked whether a woman may offer ahuti at all, he answers that in the Vedic vidhan she should not — in the vedokta vidhan it is not done — and that people have become very clever about this these days; but this is a Tantrokta vidhan, Jagadamba's own vidhan, and in it a woman may give the ordinary ahutis without any difficulty.
Ashtami-Navami sandhi kaal: Chamunda's worship, and at minimum a coconut and three lemons in bali
The last twenty minutes of Ashtami and first twenty of Navami
The speaker says the final twenty minutes of Ashtami and the first twenty minutes of Navami are called the Sandhi Kaal. In it appeared Bhagavati's foremost form, Jagadamba's Chamunda swarup — her greatest Tantrokta form — so that form is to be worshipped at that time; its full vidhan is separate from the two-Durga japa of Ashtami night. How to do Deepdaan and to whom Bali is and is not given is in a separate video; do it if possible. If one cannot do that large a vidhi, give at the very least the bali of one coconut and three lemons, and burn camphor and cloves.
Daan and samarpan before the Navratri paran
The whole vrat offered to Jagadamba first
The speaker says that after all this, on the last day and before the Paran, some grain and the like must be given in daan and Dakshina given, with a Sankalpa; and at the end comes the samarpan — that the whole Navratri Vrat one has kept is offered to Jagadamba. Only after that is the paran taken.
