अथ विंशोऽध्यायः
Sūta gives the rule for making and worshipping the earthen liṅga. He describes fetching clay of the colour proper to one's varṇa and fashioning it with care, then sets out a detailed Vedic rite naming the Yajurvedic mantra for every step — sprinkling, ground-purification, the five nectars, installation, invocation, the pādya/arghya/ācamana, bathing in milk, curd, ghee and honey, the sixteen offerings, the five mudrās, recitation of the Śatarudriya, and the sending-off. He then gives a shorter rite for general use, built on Śiva's eight names mapped to the eight steps of worship, a two-verse dhyāna of Maheśa on his throne on Kailāsa, and a prayer of personal surrender asking Śiva to make fruitful whatever was done knowingly or unknowingly. इति श्रीशिवमहापुराणे प्रथमायां विद्येश्वरसंहितायां साध्यसाधनखण्डे पार्थिवशिवलिङ्गपूजनविधिवर्णनं नाम विंशोऽध्यायः ॥ २० ॥
Here ends the twentieth chapter — “The Account of the Rite of Worshipping the Earthen Śivaliṅga” — in the section on the goal and its means, in the first Saṃhitā, that of Vidyeśvara, of the venerable Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.
इस प्रकार श्रीशिव महापुराण की प्रथम विद्येश्वर संहिता के साध्यसाधनखण्ड में “पार्थिव शिवलिंग के पूजन की विधि का वर्णन” नामक बीसवाँ अध्याय समाप्त हुआ।
