अथ चतुर्दशोऽध्यायः
The Naimiṣa sages once more ask Sūta, as Nārada once asked Brahmā, for the rite of offering flowers to Śiva; Brahmā's answer, relayed by Sūta, is an exhaustive quantified manual — how many of each flower, grain and substance, reckoned always against a notional lakh, bring which fruit: kingship, a bride, learning, eloquence, the destruction of enemies, sons, fame, liberation, and more, each closing with dakṣiṇā and the feeding of brāhmaṇas. The chapter ends with the great, self-sufficient merit of the water-, milk-, ghee- and oil-streams, and the fruit of worshipping Śiva together with Skanda and Umā — enjoyment in this life followed by union with Śiva himself.नैमिषारण्य के ऋषि पुनः सूत जी से वैसा ही प्रश्न पूछते हैं, जैसा कभी नारद जी ने ब्रह्मा जी से पूछा था — शिव को पुष्प अर्पित करने की विधि; सूत जी द्वारा सुनाया गया ब्रह्मा जी का उत्तर एक अत्यन्त विस्तृत, परिमाणबद्ध विधान है — किस पुष्प, अन्न अथवा द्रव्य की कितनी मात्रा से (सदा एक 'लाख' के मान से गिनकर) कौन-सा फल मिलता है — राज्य, कन्या, विद्या, वाणी, शत्रुनाश, पुत्र, यश, मोक्ष आदि — प्रत्येक के अन्त में दक्षिणा और ब्राह्मणभोजन के साथ। अध्याय जल-, दुग्ध-, घृत- और तैलधारा के महान्, स्वयं-पर्याप्त पुण्य के साथ तथा स्कन्द और उमा सहित शिव के पूजन के फल के साथ समाप्त होता है — इस लोक में भोग के पश्चात् स्वयं शिव के साथ ऐक्य।

"हे नारद! लक्ष्मीप्राप्ति की इच्छा वाले को कमल, बिल्वपत्र, शतपत्र और शंखपुष्प से भगवान् शिव की पूजा करनी चाहिये।

यदि एक लाख की संख्या में इन पुष्पों द्वारा भगवान् शिव की पूजा की जाय, तो सारे पापों का नाश होता है और लक्ष्मी की भी प्राप्ति हो जाती है, इसमें संशय नहीं है।
If [Śiva] is worshipped with these to the number of a hundred thousand, one becomes Śiva himself; and, brahmin, the destruction of sin, and Lakṣmī, follow — of this there is no doubt.

जब इसी मान से पत्र, पुष्प आदि को तुला पर रखे, तो वह सम्पूर्ण अभीष्ट को प्राप्त कर लेता है और यदि निष्कामभावना से युक्त है, तो वह इस पूजन से शिवस्वरूप हो जाता है।

यदि रोगग्रस्त हो, तो उसे उस संख्या के आधे अर्थात् पचास हजार पार्थिव लिंगों से शिव का पूजन करना चाहिये। कन्या चाहनेवाले मनुष्य को उसके आधे अर्थात् पच्चीस हजार पार्थिव लिंगों से शिव का पूजन करना चाहिये।

इस प्रकार यदि दस हजार मन्त्रों द्वारा शिवजी की पूजा की जाय तो प्रमेह रोग की शान्ति होती है और उपासक को मनोवांछित फल की प्राप्ति हो जाती है। यदि कोई नपुंसकता को प्राप्त हो तो वह घी से शिवजी की भलीभाँति पूजा करे। इसके पश्चात् ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराये, साथ ही उसके लिये मुनीश्वरों ने प्राजापत्यव्रत का भी विधान किया है।
Thus is the worship of Śiva to be performed with ten thousand mantras, for the pacifying of the disease of prameha, and one attains what one desires; if impotence has been given [to one], then a fine worship with ghee [is prescribed], together with the feeding of brahmins and the Prājāpatya [rite], as declared by the lords of sages.

Here ends the fourteenth chapter — “The Account of the Ordinance of Śiva-Worship” — in the tale of creation, in the first section, of the second Saṃhitā, that of Rudra, of the venerable Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.
इस प्रकार श्रीशिव महापुराण की द्वितीय रुद्र संहिता के प्रथम खण्ड, सृष्ट्युपाख्यान में “शिवपूजाविधान-वर्णन” नामक चौदहवाँ अध्याय समाप्त हुआ।
