योनिर्धरित्री जगतां त्वमेव (yonirdharitrī jagatāṃ tvameva) — you alone are the womb and earth of the worldsyou alone are the womb and earth of the worlds·त्वमेव नित्या प्रकृतिः परस्तात् (tvameva nityā prakṛtiḥ parastāt) — you alone are the eternal, transcendent primal natureyou alone are the eternal, transcendent primal nature·यया वशं क्रियते ब्रह्मरूपं (yayā vaśaṃ kriyate brahmarūpaṃ) — by which the form of Brahmā is brought under controlby which the form of Brahmā is brought under control·सा त्वं नित्या मे प्रसीदाद्य मातः (sā tvaṃ nityā me prasīdādya mātaḥ) — you are that eternal one; be gracious to me today, O motheryou are that eternal one; be gracious to me today, O mother

त्वं जातवेदोगतशक्तिरुग्रा (tvaṃ jātavedogataśaktirugrā) — you are the fierce power dwelling within fireyou are the fierce power dwelling within fire·त्वं दाहिका सूर्यकरस्य शक्तिः (tvaṃ dāhikā sūryakarasya śaktiḥ) — you are the burning power of the sun's raysyou are the burning power of the sun's rays·आह्लादिका त्वं बहुचन्द्रिका या (āhlādikā tvaṃ bahucandrikā yā) — and you are the many-mooned power of delightand you are the many-mooned power of delight·तां त्वामहं स्तौमि नमामि चण्डीम् (tāṃ tvāmahaṃ staumi namāmi caṇḍīm) — you, that Caṇḍī, I praise and bow toyou, that Caṇḍī, I praise and bow to

योषाणां सत्प्रिया च त्वं (yoṣāṇāṃ satpriyā ca tvaṃ) — you are the true beloved of womenyou are the true beloved of women·नित्या त्वं चोर्ध्वरेतसाम् (nityā tvaṃ cordhvaretasām) — and the eternal power of those of upward-flowing seedand the eternal power of those of upward-flowing seed·वाञ्छा त्वं सर्वजगतां (vāñchā tvaṃ sarvajagatāṃ) — you are the longing of all the worldsyou are the longing of all the worlds·माया च त्वं यथा हरेः (māyā ca tvaṃ yathā hareḥ) — and you are Hari's māyā tooand you are Hari's māyā too

तच्छुत्वा मेनकोक्तं हि (tacchutvā menakoktaṃ hi) — hearing what Menā had thus saidhearing what Menā had thus said·प्राह देवी प्रसन्नधीः (prāha devī prasannadhīḥ) — the goddess, her mind gracious, spokethe goddess, her mind gracious, spoke·स्मितपूर्वं वचस्तस्याः (smitapūrvaṃ vacastasyāḥ) — with a smile, her speechwith a smile, her speech·पूरयन्ती मनोरथम् (pūrayantī manoratham) — fulfilling her wishfulfilling her wish

एवमुक्त्वा जगद्धात्री (evamuktvā jagaddhātrī) — having spoken thus, sustainer of the worldhaving spoken thus, sustainer of the world·कालिका परमेश्वरी (kālikā parameśvarī) — Kālikā, the supreme goddessKālikā, the supreme goddess·पश्यन्त्या मेनकायास्तु (paśyantyā menakāyāstu) — even as Menā watchedeven as Menā watched·तत्रैवान्तर्दधे शिवा (tatraivāntardadhe śivā) — Śivā vanished then and thereŚivā vanished then and there
