Chapter 31·Rāma's glory, a rising sun·Verses 1–
Kākabhuśuṇḍi says that since Rāma's glory rose like a mighty sun, its light fills the three worlds; many are glad and many grieve. He says who are sad: first, the night of ignorance has gone. The owls of sin hide, and the lilies of lust and anger close. Different kinds of actions, qualities, time and nature are the cakora birds that never find happiness. Envy, pride, delusion and conceit are thieves with no power on any side. The lake of dharma has its lotuses, knowledge and understanding. Joy, contentment, detachment and discernment are the many ruddy geese freed from sorrow. The dohā says that when this sun of glory shines in a heart, the later ones grow and the first ones named vanish.

Listen, king of birds: ever since Rāma's glory rose like a mighty sun, the light has filled the three worlds. For many it brought joy; for many it brought grief of mind.
Verse 2

I will tell you who it is that grieves. First, the night of ignorance is gone. The owls of sin hide here and there, and the lilies of lust and anger shrink.
