रघुपति गुन गावहिं
Everywhere people sing Raghupati's virtues and sit together teaching one another: worship Rāma, protector of the humble, home of beauty, good nature and virtue; the lotus-eyed, dark-bodied one who guards his servants as the eyelid guards the eye; the one with a fine bow and quiver, sun to the lotus-bed of saints, steady in battle. Bow to Rāma, the Garuḍa to the dreadful snake of time, who ends the sense of 'mine' and wishes; who is a hunter of the deer-herd of greed and delusion, the lion to Kāma's elephant, giver of joy to his people; the sun to dense darkness of doubt and grief, the forest-fire to demons' woods. Why do you not worship Rāma with Sītā, who breaks the fear of the world; who is the snow-heap to the many mosquitoes of desires; the ever-the-same, unborn and undying; who delights sages and removes earth's burden; the generous lord of Tulasīdāsa? The dohā says in this way the men and women sing Rāma's virtues, and he is always kind to all.जहाँ-तहाँ लोग रघुपति के गुण गाते हैं और बैठकर आपस में यही सिखाते हैं: शरणागत की रक्षा करने वाले राम को भजो, जो शोभा, शील, रूप और गुणों के धाम हैं; कमल जैसे नेत्र वाले, साँवले शरीर वाले, जो सेवकों की रक्षा आँखों की पलक की तरह करते हैं; सुन्दर बाण, धनुष और तरकश धारण करने वाले, सन्त रूपी कमल-वन के सूर्य, रणधीर। जो काल रूपी भयानक सर्प के लिए गरुड़ हैं, जिन्हें नमन करने से ममता मिट जाती है; जो लोभ-मोह रूपी मृग-समूह के लिए किरात हैं और कामदेव रूपी हाथी के लिए सिंह हैं और भक्तों को सुख देने वाले हैं; जो संशय और शोक के घने अन्धकार के लिए सूर्य हैं और राक्षसों के गहन वन के लिए दावाग्नि हैं। सीता सहित रघुवीर को क्यों नहीं भजते, जो भव के भय को तोड़ने वाले हैं? जो बहुत वासनाओं रूपी मच्छरों के लिए हिम की राशि हैं, सदा एकरस, अजन्मा और अविनाशी हैं, मुनियों को आनन्द देने वाले और पृथ्वी का भार हरने वाले, तुलसीदास के उदार प्रभु। दोहे में कहा गया है कि इस प्रकार नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष राम के गुण गाते हैं और कृपानिधान राम सदा सब पर कृपालु रहते हैं।

जहाँ-तहाँ लोग रघुपति के गुण गाते थे और बैठकर एक-दूसरे को यही सिखाते थे: 'शरण में आए की रक्षा करने वाले राम को भजो, जो शोभा, शील, रूप और गुणों के धाम हैं।
Here and there the people sang Raghupati's virtues, and sat together teaching each other this: 'Worship Rāma, who protects those who bow to him, the home of beauty, good nature, form and virtue.

कमल जैसे नेत्रों और साँवले शरीर वाले को भजो, जो सेवकों की रक्षा पलक की तरह नेत्र की करते हैं; जो सुन्दर बाण, धनुष और तरकश धारण करते हैं, सन्त रूपी कमल-वन के सूर्य और रणधीर हैं।
Worship the lotus-eyed, dark-bodied one, who guards his servants like an eyelid guards the eye; who holds a fine bow and quiver, the sun to the lotus-wood of the good, steady in battle.

Worship the Garuḍa to the dreadful serpent of time, bowing to whom ends the sense of 'mine'; the hunter of the herd of deer, greed and delusion; the lion to Kāma's elephant; the giver of joy to his servants.

संशय और शोक के घने अन्धकार के लिए सूर्य को, राक्षसों के गहन वन के लिए दावाग्नि को भजो। जनकसुता सहित भव का भय तोड़ने वाले रघुवीर को क्यों नहीं भजते?
Worship the sun to the thick dark of doubt and sorrow; the forest-fire to the dense wood of demons. Why do you not worship Raghubīra with Janaka's daughter, who cuts away the fear of the world?

५5बहु बासना मसक हिम रासिहि। सदा एकरस अज अबिनासिहि ॥मुनि रंजन भंजन महि भारहि। तुलसिदास के प्रभुहि उदारहि ॥

Worship the one who is snow to the mass of mosquitoes of desire, ever the same, unborn and undying; who delights the sages and removes the earth's load; the generous lord of Tulasīdāsa.'
