Chapter 43·Vibhīṣaṇa reaches the shore·Verses 1–
Thinking so with love, he soon crossed the sea. The monkeys saw him coming and took him for a spy. They kept him there, went to Sugrīva and told him all. Sugrīva says: Lord, Rāvaṇa's brother has come to meet you. Rāma asks what he thinks. Sugrīva says the demons' tricks cannot be known; he can take any shape, so why has he come? The fool has come to learn our secrets; I think we should tie him up and keep him. Rāma answers: friend, you have thought well in policy, but my vow is to take away the fear of those who come to me for refuge. Hanumān is glad to hear it: the Lord loves those who take refuge. The dohā: those who give up the one who has come for refuge, because they think he is bad for them, are base men full of sin; it is a loss even to look at them.
