कुंभकरन की भुजा
The bears and monkeys flee like sheep at the sight of a wolf, calling out in distress. They say this night-ranger is like a famine, ready to eat up the land of the monkey race, and pray to Rāma to save them. Hearing their plea, the Lord arranges his bow and arrows and goes forward in anger, keeping his army behind him. He draws and shoots hundreds of arrows, which sink into the body; Kumbhakarṇa charges and the mountains shake and the earth trembles. He tears up a mountain with one arm and Rāma cuts that arm off; he runs with another arm and Rāma cuts that too. With arms cut he looks like Mount Mandara without wings, and he stares at the Lord as if to swallow the three worlds. Then, with a dreadful roar, he runs with his mouth open, and the siddhas and gods in the sky cry out in fear.भालू और वानरों के झुंड ऐसे भागे जैसे भेड़िया देखकर भेड़ें, और व्याकुल होकर पुकारने लगे। वे कहते हैं कि यह राक्षस अकाल की तरह है जो वानर-कुल के देश को अब खा जाना चाहता है, और राम से रक्षा की प्रार्थना करते हैं। यह करुण वचन सुनकर भगवान धनुष-बाण सँवारकर, अपनी सेना को पीछे रखकर, क्रोध से आगे चले। वे धनुष खींचकर सैकड़ों बाण चलाते हैं जो शरीर में समा जाते हैं; वह क्रोध में दौड़ता है तो पर्वत डगमगाते हैं और धरती हिलती है। वह एक पर्वत उठाता है तो राम उसकी भुजा काट देते हैं; वह दूसरी भुजा में पर्वत लेकर दौड़ता है तो प्रभु उसे भी काटकर गिरा देते हैं। भुजा कटने पर वह पंख कटे मंदराचल जैसा लगता है और प्रभु की ओर ऐसे देखता है मानो तीनों लोकों को खा जाएगा। फिर भयानक चिंघाड़ करके वह मुँह फैलाए दौड़ता है, और आकाश में सिद्ध-देवता डर के मारे 'हाय-हाय' पुकारते हैं।

भालुओं और वानरों के झुंड ऐसे भागे जैसे भेड़िए को देखकर भेड़ों का झुंड। भवानी, वानर और भालू व्याकुल होकर करुण वाणी में पुकारते हुए भाग चले।
The bears and monkeys fled in crowds, as a flock of sheep does at the sight of a wolf. O Bhavānī, they ran, crying in distress in broken voices.

२2यह निसिचर दुकाल सम अहई। कपिकुल देस परन अब चहई ॥कृपा बारिधर राम खरारी। पाहि पाहि प्रनतारति हारी ॥

'यह राक्षस अकाल के समान है; अब वह वानर-कुल के देश को खा जाना चाहता है। कृपा के बादल राम, खर के शत्रु, बचाइए, बचाइए! आप शरणागत की पीड़ा हरने वाले हैं।'
'This night-ranger is like a famine; he now wants to eat up the land of the monkey race. Rāma, cloud of mercy, destroyer of Khara, save us, save us! You take away the pain of the humble.'

ये करुण वचन सुनकर भगवान धनुष-बाण सँवारकर चले। उन्होंने अपनी सेना को पीछे कर लिया और अत्यन्त बलशाली राम क्रोध के साथ आगे बढ़े।
Hearing these piteous words, the Lord set his bow and arrows in order and went forward. He placed his own army behind him, and the very mighty one went on in anger.

४4खैंचि धनुष सर सत संधाने। छूटे तीर सरीर समाने ॥लागत सर धावा रिस भरा। कुधर डगमगत डोलति धरा ॥

He drew his bow and fixed a hundred arrows, which flew loose and sank into the body. Struck by them, Kumbhakarṇa rushed on in rage; the mountains shook and the earth trembled.

He tore up one mountain, and the glory of the Raghu line cut off that arm. He ran holding a mountain in his left arm, and the Lord cut that arm off too and threw it to the earth.

भुजा कटने पर वह दुष्ट कैसा लगता था? पंख कटे मंदराचल पर्वत जैसा। उसने प्रभु की ओर उग्र दृष्टि से देखा, मानो तीनों लोकों को खा जाना चाहता हो।
With his arms cut off, how did the wicked one look? Like Mount Mandara with its wings clipped. He looked at the Lord with a terrible glare, as if he would devour the three worlds.

दोहा ७०दोहा 70करि चिक्कार घोर अति धावा बदनु पसारि।गगन सिद्ध सुर त्रासित हा हा हेति पुकारि ॥ ७० ॥

बड़ी भयंकर चिंघाड़ करके वह मुँह फैलाए दौड़ा। आकाश में सिद्ध और देवता डर के मारे 'हाय, हाय' पुकारने लगे।
With a dreadful roar he ran at him, his mouth wide open. The siddhas and gods in the sky cried out in fear, 'Alas, alas!'
