कुंभकरन का क्रोध
Kumbhakarṇa sees his night-ranger band struck down like clouds in the sky, and becomes furious, roaring like a lion. He tears up a mountain and hurls it where the monkey warriors are thick. Rāma sees the great rocks coming and cuts them to dust with arrows. Then he draws his bow in anger and looses many fearful arrows. They enter the giant's body and come out, like lightning in a cloud. Blood flows and his dark body shines like a black mountain with streams of red ochre. Seeing the bears and monkeys in distress, he laughs as they come near, then with a great roar seizes crores of them and dashes them down like an elephant, while swearing an oath by Rāvaṇa.कुंभकर्ण अपनी राक्षस-टोली को बादलों की तरह कटते देखकर बहुत क्रुद्ध होता है और सिंह जैसी गम्भीर गर्जना करता है। वह क्रोध में एक पर्वत उखाड़कर वहाँ फेंकता है जहाँ वानर योद्धाओं की भीड़ है। राम बड़े-बड़े पर्वतों को आते देखकर बाणों से काटकर धूल बना देते हैं। फिर वे क्रोध से धनुष तानकर बहुत से भयंकर बाण छोड़ते हैं। वे शरीर में घुसकर पार निकल जाते हैं, जैसे बादल में बिजली समा जाती है। रक्त बहता है और उसका काला शरीर ऐसा शोभित है जैसे काला पर्वत जिससे गेरू की धाराएँ बह रही हों। भालू-वानरों को व्याकुल देखकर जब वे निकट आए तो वह हँसा, फिर बड़ी गर्जना करके करोड़ों वानरों को पकड़कर हाथी की तरह धरती पर पटकने लगा, और रावण की सौगंध खाने लगा।

कुंभकर्ण ने मन में विचार किया कि उसकी राक्षसों की टोली बादलों के बीच की तरह कट गई है। वह महाबली वीर बहुत क्रुद्ध हुआ और सिंह की तरह गम्भीर गर्जना की।
Kumbhakarṇa thought to himself that his band of night-rangers had been struck down as clouds are in the sky. The mighty hero grew very angry and let out a deep roar like a lion's.

In anger he tore up a mountain and flung it where the heavy monkey warriors were. Seeing the heavy rocks come, the Lord cut them with arrows and turned them to dust.

फिर रघुनाथ ने क्रोध से धनुष तानकर बहुत-से भयंकर बाण छोड़े। वे शरीर में घुसकर पार निकल जाते थे, जैसे बिजली बादल में समा जाती है।
Then Raghunātha drew his bow in anger and shot many fearful arrows. They entered the body and came out the other side, like lightning going into a cloud.

रक्त बहता था और उसका काला शरीर ऐसा शोभित था जैसे काले पर्वत से गेरू की धाराएँ बह रही हों। भालू-वानरों को व्याकुल होकर दौड़ते देखकर वह जब वे पास आए तो हँसा।
Blood flowed and his dark body shone, like a black mountain with streams of red ochre. Seeing the bears and monkeys in distress as they ran up, he laughed when they came near.

बड़ी गर्जना करके उसने करोड़ों वानरों को पकड़कर हाथी की तरह धरती पर पटका, और रावण की सौगंध खाता रहा।
