सैल उपारि

The nymph tells Hanumān that on seeing him she is freed from a sage's curse, and that the hermit is a terrible demon and not a sage. She goes, and Hanumān goes to the demon, saying he will pay the teacher's fee first and take the mantra afterwards. He winds his tail round the demon's head and dashes him down. As he dies, the demon shows his own form, and gives up his life saying Rāma, Rāma. Hearing it, Hanumān goes on gladly. He sees the hill but does not know the herb, so he suddenly tears up the whole mountain. Carrying it through the night sky, he comes above Ayodhyā. In the dohā, Bharata sees the huge shape, takes it for a demon and shoots an arrow with no head, drawing the bow to his ear. अप्सरा हनुमान से कहती है कि तुम्हारे दर्शन से मैं निष्पाप हो गई और मुनिवर का शाप मिट गया। यह मुनि नहीं, भयंकर राक्षस है, मेरी बात सच मानो। यह कहकर वह चली गई, तब हनुमान राक्षस के पास गए और बोले कि मुनि, पहले गुरुदक्षिणा ले लो, पीछे मुझे मंत्र दे देना। उन्होंने पूँछ सिर में लपेटकर उसे पटक दिया। मरते समय उसने अपना असली शरीर प्रकट किया और राम-राम कहकर प्राण छोड़े। यह सुनकर हनुमान प्रसन्न होकर आगे चले। उन्होंने पर्वत देखा पर औषधि नहीं पहचानी, तो सहसा पर्वत को ही उखाड़ लिया। पर्वत लेकर वे रात में आकाश में दौड़े और अयोध्यापुरी के ऊपर पहुँचे। दोहे में कहा है कि भरत ने बहुत विशाल रूप देखकर राक्षस समझा और धनुष कान तक तानकर बिना फल का बाण मारा।

यह कहकर अप्सरा चली गई। तब वानर राक्षस के पास गए। हनुमान ने कहा, 'मुनि, गुरुदक्षिणा ले लो, पीछे मुझे मंत्र दे देना।'

Saying this, the nymph went. Then the monkey went near the demon. Hanumān said, 'Sage, take your teacher's fee, and afterwards give me the mantra.'

३3 सिर लंगूर लपेटि पछारा। निज तनु प्रगटेसि मरती बारा ॥ राम राम कहि छाड़ेसि प्राना। सुनि मन हरषि चलेउ हनुमाना ॥
