Rāvaṇa asks who this monkey is. Aṅgada says he is Raghubīra's messenger, and that his father was Rāvaṇa's friend, so he has come for his good. He says Rāvaṇa is of a high family, a grandson of Pulastya, who worshipped Śiva and Brahmā in many ways, won boons and conquered the guardians of the world and kings. Whether from pride of kingship or from delusion, he carried off Sītā, the mother of the world. Aṅgada asks him to hear the good advice now: the Lord will forgive every offence. Rāvaṇa should put grass in his teeth and an axe at his throat, and go with his family and wives, putting Sītā in front, and cry for refuge. The Lord will hear the sad cry and make him fearless.
