देवताओं की प्रार्थना

Śiva says that when Kṛṣṇa is born in the line of Yadu to lift the earth's great burden, he will have a son, and that son will be Rati's husband; his word will not fail. Hearing Śaṅkara's words Rati goes. Now the poet tells another tale. The gods get the news, and Brahmā and the others go to Vaikuṇṭha. Then all the gods with Viṣṇu and Brahmā go where merciful Śiva is. One by one they praise him, and the moon-crowned Lord is pleased. The ocean of mercy with the bull on his banner asks why the immortals have come. Brahmā says: Lord, you know all hearts, yet as a devotee I plead. All the gods have a great longing in their hearts to see your marriage with their own eyes. शिव कहते हैं कि जब यदुवंश में कृष्ण का अवतार होगा और वे पृथ्वी का भारी भार हरेंगे, तब कृष्ण का पुत्र तुम्हारा पति होगा; मेरा वचन अन्यथा नहीं होगा। शंकर की वाणी सुनकर रति चली गई। अब मैं दूसरी कथा कहता हूँ। देवताओं ने सब समाचार पाया तो ब्रह्मा आदि वैकुण्ठ गए। फिर विष्णु और ब्रह्मा सहित सब देवता वहाँ गए जहाँ कृपा के घर शिव थे। उन्होंने अलग-अलग शिव की प्रशंसा की और चन्द्रमा को आभूषण बनाने वाले शिव प्रसन्न हुए। कृपासागर वृषकेतु ने पूछा कि हे देवताओ, किस कारण आए हो? ब्रह्मा ने कहा कि प्रभु, आप अन्तर्यामी हैं, फिर भी भक्ति के वश मैं विनती करता हूँ। सब देवताओं के हृदय में शंकर के विवाह का परम उत्साह है; हे नाथ, वे अपनी आँखों से आपका विवाह देखना चाहते हैं।
