गंगा-स्नान, बिदेह नगर
Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa walk with the sage to the Gaṅgā, and Viśvāmitra tells them how the river of the gods came to earth. The Lord bathes with the sages, and brahmins receive gifts. They go on gladly and soon come near the city of Videha. Seeing the city's loveliness, Rāma and his brother are especially glad. There are step-wells, wells, rivers and lakes with water like nectar and steps of jewels, bees humming, birds of many colours singing, flowers of every shade and a breeze that always gives joy. Flower gardens, orchards and woods full of birds, flowering and fruiting, adorn the city on all sides.राम और लक्ष्मण मुनि के साथ चलकर जगत को पावन करने वाली गंगा के पास गए। गाधि के पुत्र विश्वामित्र ने सब कथा सुनाई कि गंगा किस प्रकार पृथ्वी पर आईं। फिर प्रभु ने ऋषियों के साथ स्नान किया और ब्राह्मणों ने अनेक दान पाए। वे हर्षित होकर मुनि-समूह के साथ चले और शीघ्र ही विदेह नगर के निकट पहुँचे। नगर की रमणीयता देखकर राम और अनुज बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। वहाँ बावड़ियाँ, कुएँ, नदियाँ और तालाब थे जिनका जल अमृत जैसा था और सीढ़ियाँ मणियों की थीं; मतवाले भौंरे गुंजार करते थे, रंग-बिरंगे पक्षी चहकते थे, वन में अनेक रंगों के फूल खिले थे और तीनों प्रकार की वायु सदा सुख देती थी। फुलवारियाँ, बाग और वन, जिनमें बहुत पक्षी रहते थे, फूलते-फलते नगर को चारों ओर से सुशोभित करते थे।

तब प्रभु ने ऋषियों के साथ स्नान किया और ब्राह्मणों ने अनेक दान पाए। वे हर्षित होकर मुनि-समूह के साथ चले और शीघ्र ही विदेह नगर के निकट पहुँचे।
Then the Lord bathed with the sages, and the brahmins received many gifts. Gladly they went on with the company of sages, and soon came near the city of Videha.

३3पुर रम्यता राम जब देखी। हरषे अनुज समेत बिसेषी ॥बापीं कूप सरित सर नाना। सलिल सुधासम मनि सोपाना ॥

नगर की रमणीयता देखकर राम अनुज सहित बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। वहाँ अनेक बावड़ियाँ, कुएँ, नदियाँ और तालाब थे, जिनका जल अमृत के समान था और जिनकी सीढ़ियाँ मणियों की थीं।
When Rāma saw the city's loveliness, he was especially glad, together with his brother. There were many step-wells, wells, rivers and lakes, with water like nectar and steps of jewels.

४4गुंजत मंजु मत्त रस भृंगा। कूजत कल बहुबरन बिहंगा ॥बरन बरन बिकसे बन जाता। त्रिबिध समीर सदा सुखदाता ॥

मतवाले भौंरे मधुर गुंजार करते थे और अनेक रंगों के पक्षी कूजते थे। वन में रंग-रंग के फूल खिले थे, और शीतल, मंद, सुगंधित तीनों प्रकार की वायु सदा सुख देती थी।
Bees hummed sweetly, drunk with nectar, and birds of many colours sang. Flowers of every colour bloomed in the woods, and the three kinds of breeze, cool, gentle and fragrant, always gave delight.
