Happiness, wealth, sons, army, helpers, victory, splendour, strength, intellect and renown: all kept growing every day, as greed grows with every gain. His brother Kumbhakarṇa was so strong that nothing in the world could stand against him. He drank and slept for six months, and when he woke the three worlds were afraid. If he ate every day, the whole world would be ruined quickly. His steadiness in battle cannot be told, and he had countless heroes of his strength. Meghanāda, called Bārida-nāda, was his eldest son, first in the list of warriors in the world, and no one could stand before him in battle; because of him the city of the gods fled in fear every day.
