The great demon warriors who lived there had all been slaughtered in battle by the gods. Now, sent by Indra, crores of guards of the lord of the yakṣas lived there. The ten-headed one got word of it somewhere, made ready his army and besieged the fort. Seeing the fierce warriors and the big army, the yakṣas ran away with their lives. Then Daśānana looked over the whole city, and his anxiety was gone and he was very glad. He found it beautiful and naturally unreachable, and made Laṅkā his capital. He divided the houses among all as suited each, and made all the night-walkers happy. Once he attacked Kubera and brought back the flying car Puṣpaka after winning it.
