Rāma, ornament of the Raghus, joined his hands and bowed at his mother's feet, glad. She blessed him and took him to her heart, and offered up ornaments and clothes around him. Again and again the mother kissed his face, her eyes wet with love and her body thrilled. She set him on her lap and drew him close, and her breasts flowed with the milk of love. Her love and joy could not be told, as if a pauper had found the rank of Kubera. She looked lovingly at his handsome face and said in sweet words: Tell me, dear, I give myself for you, when is the day of the happy rite, the best fruit of my merits, goodness and joy, the very limit of what life can give?
