The merciful Lord sees the people troubled by their own love and by Indra's heavy tricks. In the assembly of king, guru, Brahmins and ministers, Bharata's devotion plays on every mind like an instrument. They look at Rāma as if painted in a picture and speak, shyly, in rehearsed words. Bharata's love, humility, modesty and greatness are pleasant to hear but hard to describe. Sages and the lord of Mithilā are lost in love at the sight of even a trace of his devotion, so who could tell his greatness, except a mind that rejoices in devotion by nature? The poet, small and sensing the greatness, keeps to the poets' custom and shrinks; he cannot tell the delight of Bharata's virtues, and his mind speaks like a child. Bharata's pure fame is a pure moon and the wise mind is a young cakora bird, gazing unblinking at it as it rises in the clear sky of devotees' hearts.

Seeing the people distressed, the ocean of mercy knew they were weighed down by their own love and by Indra's tricks. In the assembly, king, guru, Brahmins and ministers, Bharata's devotion was the instrument of every mind.

Small itself and finding his greatness great, the poet keeps to the poets' custom and shrinks. He cannot tell the delight in his virtues; his mind speaks as a child's speech does.

Bharata's pure fame is the pure moon, and the wise mind is a young cakora, which, as he rises in the clear sky of the devotees' hearts, stays gazing at him unblinking.
