The spies came back and told Janaka's court what they had understood of Bharata's deeds. Hearing it, the guru, the family, the ministers and the king were anxious and overcome with love. Janaka steadied himself, praised Bharata and called his warriors. He placed guards in house, city and country, and had horses, elephants and chariots made ready. They set out at once without resting, and crossed the Yamunā after bathing at Prayāga. Hearing of Janaka's coming, the Ayodhyā camp was glad, but Rāma felt great shyness and Indra felt great worry.
