बंधु बिहाइ बड़ेहि अभिषेकू
The sage praised Rāma's goodness and nature and said lovingly: The king has made ready the anointing and wants to give you the post of heir. Keep all the rules of purity today, so that fate may carry the work through well. The guru gave the instruction, went to the king, and Rāma was left with an odd thought: we were born together, we all ate, slept and played together, were pierced, invested and married together, and all shared the joy. This one wrong stains our pure family: leaving the brothers and anointing only the eldest. The Lord's loving regret was fair to see. May it take away the crookedness in the hearts of his devotees.
