After many deeds at Citrakūṭa, Rāma thinks that too many people will now come to him, and takes leave of the sages. With Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa he goes to the hermitage of Atri. The great sage runs to meet him, falls at his feet and holds him close, and both brothers are bathed in his tears of love. He brings them to his hermitage, honours them and offers roots and fruits.
