Rāma says he will go to see Agastya, his teacher, whom he has not seen for many days. Sutīkṣṇa laughs, knowing why Rāma does not simply go to the sage's hermitage first, and takes them there, telling of Rāma's love for devotees on the way. He runs ahead to tell his teacher that Rāma has come with Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa. Agastya hurries out, tears in his eyes, and the brothers fall at his feet. He asks after their welfare and seats them. Then he worships Rāma, saying no one is as fortunate as he, and Rāma sits among the sages, who look at him as chakora birds look at the autumn moon.राम कहते हैं कि अब मैं गुरु अगस्त्य के पास जाऊँगा, उन्हें देखे बहुत दिन हो गए। सुतीक्ष्ण समझ गए कि प्रभु मुझे भी अपने साथ ले जाना चाहते हैं; वे दोनों भाइयों को हँसते हुए साथ ले चले और रास्ते में अपनी भक्ति की बात बताते गए। आश्रम पहुँचकर सुतीक्ष्ण पहले गुरु के पास गए और बोले कि कौसलराज के पुत्र सीता और लक्ष्मण सहित मिलने आए हैं। अगस्त्य सुनते ही उठकर दौड़े, आँखों में जल भर आया। दोनों भाई चरणों में गिरे। ऋषि ने प्रेम से हृदय से लगाया, कुशल पूछी और आसन पर बिठाया। फिर पूजा की और कहा कि मेरे समान भाग्यवान कोई नहीं। वहाँ जितने और मुनि थे सब सुखकन्द राम को देखकर प्रसन्न हुए। राम सब मुनियों के बीच बैठे और सबकी ओर देखते रहे, जैसे शरद के चन्द्रमा को चकोर देखते हैं।
