Vanshavriddhi Durga Kavach: A Sadhana for Lineage Continuance and Conception

The speaker says Vansh Vriddhi (continuance of a family lineage through offspring) can stop for several reasons: a Dosha in the birth chart, particularly a malefic planet's aspect on the fifth house or fifth bhava, which obstructs conception; a Kul dosha (a fault attached to the family line); and various acts, if committed by ancestors or by the person themselves, that leave a standing dosha. He adds that a person can be medically sound and yet still face great difficulty in having children — the obstruction, in his account, does not always show up as a medical issue.

In such situations, the speaker says one should take refuge in Bhagavan Mahadev together with Bhagwati Jagdamba. He extends this to a further case: even after conception, if some affliction or calamity arises and the pregnancy miscarries, or repeatedly fails to hold, the vidhan (procedure) being described can be applied there too. He stresses that the full procedure should be carried out with complete surrender and dedication.

The speaker instructs that while this vidhi (procedure) is being carried out, a husband should not let anyone besides his wife know about it, and a wife should not let anyone besides her husband know about it. If the couple has a Guru or a guide (margdarshak), they may discuss it and ask questions of that person, but no other person should be informed about it or consulted about it.

The speaker states that this Kavach is said to have been given by Bhagwan Surya Narayan, and its name is Vansh Kavacham — the Vansh Vriddhi Durga Kavacham. He directs viewers to a PDF of the kavach text, linked in the video description, which should be downloaded first. He explains that the kavach text has an opening portion and a phal shruti (a passage describing the fruits of recitation) that should only be recited the first and the last time the sadhana is performed; the mool kavach (the core kavach verses) is what should be recited repeatedly, more often than the rest.

To attain siddhi of the kavach, the speaker says one should recite the mool kavach 108 times daily, starting from Ashtami and continuing through Chaturdashi, in the Shukla Paksha or the Krishna Paksha of any month. This can be done at home or in a temple of Bhagwati Durga. During recitation, the practitioner's clothing should be yellow or red, and they should face east, or face the deity's murti if performed at a temple. Two ghee lamps should be lit. After this, a SankalpaA formal ritual resolution spoken aloud before an offering or observance, declaring its intent and dedicating its merit. should be taken, stating that the sadhana is being performed for the kavach to become siddha and, by its grace and the grace of Bhagwati, for the couple to attain a child. The speaker emphasizes that kusha must be worn, and that both the husband and the wife performing the vidhan must wear a pavitri (a ring woven for the purpose) before taking the sankalp and beginning the Japa.

For the Japa, the speaker says a lotus flower or a bael fruit (BilvaThe sacred wood of the Bael tree, used as fuel for Havan offerings of ghee and sesame seeds to Lord Shiva during a release ritual.) should be used. While completing the 108 recitations, one lotus flower should stay in one hand, and a separate object should be used to keep the count of the 108 recitations. Until the full 108 recitations are complete, that flower or the bael fruit must remain in the right hand. As an alternative, a coconut with water inside may be used, but he cautions that the coconut must not be broken open — its outer shell alone is what gets offered and kept near Bhagwati. Once the japa on the flower is complete, that flower should be offered at Bhagwati's holy feet, either by the practitioner or by a pandit, and if this is done at home, it is offered at the feet of Bhagwati's murti. This is to be done daily from Ashtami through Chaturdashi.

On the final day of the AnushthanaAn extended ritual observance — such as 108 recitations of a scripture — carrying its own strict rules., the speaker says a self-performed sukshma Havan should be done, offering 108 Ahuti of ghee and guggal using either Bhagwati Durga's 108 names or the Jayanti Mangala Kali mantra (Bhadrakali Kapalini Durga Kshama). If the practitioner is a woman, he refers to a separate video on the channel covering paushtik havan samagri (nourishing havan ingredients), which should be mixed in for this havan. He describes this as a tantroktha vidhi, and says it is best when husband and wife perform the havan together — the husband offering the ahutis of ghee mixed with guggal, and the wife offering with the paushtik samagri, or simply touching her husband's hand while he offers. He further says that if this Vansh Vriddhi kavach is combined with a separate vidhi for Ghushmeshwar Mahadev — an abhishek procedure also taught on the channel — the results are best. In that combined form, the Ghushmeshwar Mahadev vidhi should begin on a Mahashivratri, a Masik Shivratri, or a Pradosha, and the Vansh Vriddhi kavach recitation should begin the same day, before the day's abhishek and related rites are performed — the kavach recitation done first, followed by the Shiva abhishek. If the affliction is severe, he says performing both together, over about a month with an 11-day anushthan practiced as far as one's capacity allows, brings benefit sooner; on the final day, the combined havan offers ahutis to the Ghushmeshwar Mahadev mantra first, followed by Durga's 108 names or the Jayanti Mangala mantra.

The speaker says that when the AnushthanaAn extended ritual observance — such as 108 recitations of a scripture — carrying its own strict rules. is performed for the first time, at least 1100 japa of the mool kavach should ordinarily be completed. He then describes a further method of use: while the anushthan and its havan are underway, a covered Kalash or lota filled with pure GangajalWater from the Ganges, used to purify and re-consecrate ritual items exposed to impurity. should be kept in place. Each day, while japa is performed, the energy released in the practitioner's voice should be directed onto that water, and when the havan is performed, the heat of the sacrificial fire should be allowed to reach the vessel as well. He adds that he will go on to explain how that consecrated (Abhimantran) water is to be drunk and used.

The speaker says that performing this kavach's anushthan brings relief from whatever Dosha has been blocking a lineage's growth, and that the lineage then grows. He extends the claim to a woman who has been unable to conceive for a long time (referred to as bandhya), and to a woman who has repeatedly lost infants (referred to in the traditional terms mrityuvatsa and kakvandhya) — he says benefit comes in these cases too. He also addresses a case he describes in medical terms: where the follicles needed for conception fail to form within the woman's reproductive organs, preventing pregnancy — he says this sadhana benefits that condition as well, through the consumption of the consecrated water or butter described further on. Beyond this, he says relief also comes from an affliction of planets or NakshatraOne of the 27 lunar constellations used to time rituals — certain occult procedures, such as acquiring a cremation Handi, must be performed within a specific Nakshatra's window.s, a fault of the Kul, a Pitr dosha or a dosha from a Preta or pishach, or a dosha in the pregnancy caused by hostile magical action (Abhichara) — all of these, he says, are relieved through this kavach's anushthan, whether the practitioner performs it themselves or has it performed on their behalf, together with wearing consecrated items such as a Garbha Gauri RudrakshaA sacred seed strung into rosaries and worn during shiva worship. that is consecrated as part of the sadhana. He adds that a consecrated kavach is likewise prepared through the anushthan, and states plainly that those who do the whole procedure themselves can carry out all of these steps themselves as well.

After the anushthan, the speaker says a consecrated Kavach is prepared and worn by the woman, either around the neck or at the waist. He says that if the anushthan is continued regularly as far as one's capacity allows even after conception occurs, it protects the child developing in the womb, and that after birth, the child continues to receive Bhagwati's grace and remains protected and nurtured by the Yoginis. He describes this as the effect of the kavach, and calls it an especially distinguished and excellent kavach in its own right.

The speaker says it has even been stated, regarding this kavach, that it should not be published or made known everywhere. He nonetheless says that in the present time such knowledge is needed, so people should learn of it and practice it. His stated reason is that lineage growth is sometimes obstructed through hostile magical action (Abhichara) carried out against otherwise good people, and it is for this reason, he says, that he is bringing this kavach into the open, and he urges everyone to perform it.

The speaker explains that once the anushthan has been performed once and the water kept aside has been consecrated, its use follows a schedule. If a man has some Dosha — such as a Shukra dosha or similar deficiency — he should, every day after bathing and performing puja, take Bhagwati's prasad and drink that consecrated water on an empty stomach, before eating anything. A woman should begin drinking that same consecrated water — the water consecrated during the anushthan — from the day she becomes ritu-snata, meaning the day her monthly cycle (period) finishes, she washes her hair, and performs her first puja after that; from that day she should drink the consecrated water.

The speaker says that once that batch of consecrated water is finished, or if a practitioner forgot to keep any aside, the daily recitation of the kavach must still continue regardless. After the main anushthan is complete, he recommends reciting the mool kavach daily at least seven times, and says twenty-seven times is best. During this ongoing daily recitation, water should again be placed near Bhagwati to be consecrated, and both husband and wife should drink that consecrated water. He particularly emphasizes that a woman should keep drinking the water on each day following her ritu-snana for some time afterward, and says that continuing this over a long period brings very good results.

Beyond the water, the speaker describes a further step: after the woman becomes ritu-snata, a small quantity of butter — about one spoonful, made from pure desi Gau milk — should be placed before Bhagwati in connection with this kavach and consecrated. Once consecrated, he says that if the woman eats this butter, conception is said to reliably follow, according to the description he has come across.

The speaker says that whenever a Sankranti happens to fall on a Sunday, or whenever the Saptami of the Shukla Paksha falls on a Sunday, that day is treated as especially significant, since it is held to be Bhagwan Surya Narayan's special day, carrying his particular grace. Because this kavach is said to have been given by Surya Narayan himself, he prescribes that on such a day, the consecrated water or the consecrated butter should be consumed while standing at the main doorway (Chaukhat) of the house — the threshold where the family's deities and ancestors are worshipped — and, if Surya Narayan (the sun) is visible from there, it should be consumed while looking at him. If the sun is not visible from the doorway, he says one should first offer pranam and remembrance at the doorway, then step outside to have darshan of Surya Narayan, and only then drink the consecrated water or eat the consecrated butter. He says this brings benefit especially quickly.

In closing, the speaker says that whenever this kavach is performed together with the full Ghushmeshwar Mahadev vidhi, and benefit is received, the couple — and, in time, the child born to them — should keep devotion (bhakti) to Sadashiv and Bhagwati throughout their lives, keep trying to work for the welfare of others, and never abandon that devotion. He says that whatever is given through this devotion will be good, and that a dharmic child (santan) is certain to be obtained through these combined effects.
