When should the ritual begin, and what are its attire, seat, and daily recitation rules?
The anushthana can begin on Makar Sankranti, a Saturday in Krishna Paksha, Shanishchari Amavasya, or Shani Jayanti, and runs 7 to 21 days; each day the practitioner recites the mantra 27 to 108 times seated on a Kusha Asana, wearing plain white clothing (avoiding blue or black) with a turmeric-tinted border, facing west, or east if west is not feasible.
