अथ षष्ठोऽध्यायः

Brahmā wakes the sleeping Viṣṇu and each claims to be supreme; enraged, they turn their celestial weapons — Māheśvara against Pāśupata — on one another. As the gods watch in dismay, unable to save even a blade of grass without Śiva's grace, they flee to Kailāsa, where they find Śiva enthroned with Umā, who calls them near. ब्रह्मा सोए हुए विष्णु को जगाते हैं और दोनों स्वयं को श्रेष्ठ बताते हैं। क्रुद्ध होकर वे एक-दूसरे पर माहेश्वर और पाशुपत जैसे दिव्य अस्त्र चलाते हैं। शिव की कृपा के बिना एक तिनके का भी विनाश असम्भव जानकर व्याकुल देवता कैलास भागते हैं, जहाँ उमा सहित विराजमान शिव उन्हें समीप बुलाते हैं।

Here ends the sixth chapter — “The Account of the Gods' Journey to Kailāsa” — in the first Saṃhitā, that of Vidyeśvara, of the venerable Śiva Mahāpurāṇa.

इस प्रकार श्रीशिव महापुराण की प्रथम विद्येश्वर संहिता में “देवताओं की कैलास-यात्रा का वर्णन” नामक छठा अध्याय समाप्त हुआ।
