Chapter Four · Chanchulā Set Free · Verses 1–50

The brahmin tells Chanchulā that repentance and the hearing of this tale have already cleansed her, then recites her the whole Śiva Purāṇa. In time she gives up her body without pain, is carried to Śiva's world, and Pārvatī takes her as a companion.

From this, devotion to Maheśa surely arises, with its two sons; by his grace it becomes divine, and from that comes release — no doubt.

NoteThe "two sons" of devotion are knowledge and dispassion — the pairing the chapter has been building toward.
