Chanchulā, now Pārvatī's companion, asks after her dead husband and learns he is a piśāca on the Vindhya. At her plea the goddess sends the gandharva Tumburu, who binds the piśāca, recites him the whole Śiva Purāṇa before a gathering of gods and sages, and carries him — freed and divine — to Śiva's world.
