Chapter 23·Nature in Rāma's kingdom·Verses 1–
Trees flower and fruit all year, and elephants and lions live together. Birds and beasts forget their natural enmity and love each other. They sing and graze in the forest without fear, a cool, fragrant breeze blows, and bees hum. Creepers and trees drip honey when asked, cows give milk as wished, and the earth is always rich in crops. The Tretā became like the Kṛta age. Hills show mines of gems, rivers run with clear, cool and sweet water, and the sea keeps its limit and throws jewels on the shore for men to take. All ponds are full of lotuses and every direction is clear. The moon fills the earth with light, the sun gives only the heat needed, and the clouds give water when asked.
