I bow to Rāma, the best of the Raghus, the crest-jewel of kings. He is calm and eternal, beyond all measure, without sin, and he gives the peace of liberation. Brahmā, Śambhu and Śeṣa always serve him, and the Vedānta alone can make him known. He is all-pervading, the Lord of the world and teacher of the gods. He is Hari, who by his power of illusion has taken the form of a man, and a mine of compassion.
Śambhu is Śiva, and Śeṣa is the serpent king who holds up the earth.
