रामु सत्यसंकल्प
Vibhīṣaṇa's counsel is approved by the wise, the Purāṇas and the Vedas. Hearing it, Rāvaṇa rises in anger and tells him that death is near him. He says Vibhīṣaṇa lives by his giving, and he likes the enemy's side. 'Is there anyone in the world whom I have not conquered by the strength of my arms? You live in my city but love ascetics; go and meet them and tell them your right conduct.' Saying so he kicks him; the younger brother holds his feet again and again. Śiva tells Umā: this is the greatness of the saint, that he does good to those who do him harm. Vibhīṣaṇa says: 'You are like a father, and you did well to strike me; but worshipping Rāma is for your good.' He goes by the sky with his ministers, telling everyone. He says Rāma is true to his word, a Lord, and the court is in the grip of Death. 'I go now to Raghubīra for refuge; do not blame me.'विभीषण ने पण्डितों, पुराणों और श्रुतियों के मत के अनुसार नीति कही। सुनकर रावण क्रोध में उठ खड़ा हुआ और बोला, दुष्ट, अब तेरी मौत पास आ गई है। तू सदा मेरे दिए जीवन पर जीता है, मूर्ख, और तुझे शत्रु का पक्ष भाता है। बता दुष्ट, जगत में ऐसा कौन है जिसे मैंने अपनी भुजाओं के बल से नहीं जीता? तू मेरे नगर में रहता है और तपस्वियों से प्रेम करता है। मूर्ख, जा उनसे मिल और उन्हें नीति सिखा। यह कहकर उसने लात मारी, पर छोटे भाई ने बार-बार उसके पैर पकड़े। शिव कहते हैं: उमा, सन्त की यही बड़ाई है कि बुरा करने वाले का भी भला करता है। विभीषण बोले, आप पिता के समान हैं, आपने मुझे मारा सो ठीक किया, पर नाथ, राम के भजन में आपका हित है। फिर वे मन्त्रियों को साथ लेकर आकाश मार्ग से गए, सबको सुनाते हुए यह कहते हुए: राम सत्य संकल्प वाले प्रभु हैं और रावण की सभा कालवश है। मैं अब रघुवीर की शरण जाता हूँ, मुझे दोष मत देना।

तू मूर्ख, मेरे ही जिलाने से जीता है, और तुझे शत्रु का पक्ष भाता है। बता दुष्ट, जगत में ऐसा कौन है जिसे मैंने अपनी भुजाओं के बल से नहीं जीता?
You live, fool, only as I let you live, and you like the side of the enemy. Say, wretch, who is there in the world I have not conquered by the strength of my arms?

उमा, सन्त की यही बड़ाई है कि बुरा करने वाले का भी भला करता है। विभीषण बोले, 'आप पिता के समान हैं, आपने मुझे मारा सो ठीक किया। पर नाथ, आपका हित राम के भजन में है।'
Umā, this is the glory of the saint: he does good even to the one who does him harm. Vibhīṣaṇa said, 'You are like a father, and you were right to strike me. But for you, Lord, the good lies in worshipping Rāma.'

'राम सत्य संकल्प वाले प्रभु हैं और रावण की सभा काल के वश में है। मैं अब रघुवीर की शरण जाता हूँ, मुझे दोष मत देना।'
'Rāma is a Lord true to his vow. The court of Rāvaṇa is in the grip of Death. I now go to Raghubīra for refuge. Do not blame me.'
