Vibhīṣaṇa says Rāma is not a mortal king but the Lord of the worlds and Death of Death; Brahman, free of fault, unborn, all-pervading, unconquered, without beginning or end. He is kind to cows, brahmins and the gods, an ocean of mercy who has taken a man's body. He gives joy to his people, destroys the crowd of the wicked and guards the Vedas and right conduct. Give up the quarrel and bow to him, the destroyer of the pain of those who bow. Give Vaidehī to the Lord and worship Rāma, who loves without cause. The Lord does not even give up one who has done harm to the whole world, if he takes refuge. The one whose name destroys the three kinds of pain, know him to be that Lord, present before you. In the dohās: 'Again and again I touch your feet and beg, ten-headed one: give up pride, delusion and conceit, and worship the lord of Kosala.' The sage Pulastya sent this word by his disciple, and Vibhīṣaṇa told it to Rāvaṇa at the first chance.

When one has gone to him for refuge, the Lord does not give him up, even if he is stained with the sin of harming the whole world. The Lord whose name destroys the three kinds of pain stands in front of you. Know it in your heart, Rāvaṇa.
