Flatterers who praise Rāvaṇa are what he wants. Vibhīṣaṇa finds a good moment, comes to court and bows at his brother's feet. Then he bows his head again, sits in his seat, and with permission speaks: 'Kind brother, you ask me, and I shall say what I think is good. Whoever wants his own welfare, good fame, wisdom, a good end and many joys, should give up another man's wife, as one turns from the moon on the fourth day of the month. One who is lord of the fourteen worlds cannot last if he hates other beings. A man, though a sea of virtues and clever, if he has even a little greed, no one calls him good.' The dohā says that lust, anger, pride and greed are all roads to hell. Give them up and worship Raghubīra, whom the saints worship.चाटुकारी लोग रावण को वही सुनाते हैं जो उसे सुहाता है। अवसर जानकर विभीषण आए और भाई के चरणों में सिर नवाया। फिर सिर नवाकर अपने आसन पर बैठे और आज्ञा पाकर बोले: कृपालु भाई, आप मुझसे बात पूछते हैं तो मैं अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार हित की बात कहता हूँ। जो अपना कल्याण, सुयश, सुमति, शुभ गति और अनेक सुख चाहे, वह पराई स्त्री के मस्तक को चौथ के चाँद की तरह त्याग दे। चौदह भुवनों का एक ही स्वामी हो, तो भी जो जीवों से द्रोह करता है वह टिकता नहीं। गुणों का सागर और चतुर मनुष्य भी यदि थोड़ा भी लोभ रखे तो कोई उसे अच्छा नहीं कहता। दोहे में कहा है कि काम, क्रोध, मद और लोभ ये सब नरक के रास्ते हैं। इन सबको छोड़कर रघुवीर का भजन करो, जिनका सन्त भजन करते हैं।
