Chapter 32·Rāma's debt to Hanumān·Verses 1–
Hearing of Sītā's sorrow, the Lord, a home of joy, has tears in his lotus eyes. He says: whoever has me as their only refuge in word, deed and mind, can trouble ever come to such a one, even in dream? Hanumān says trouble is only when there is no remembering and worship of him. How small a thing are the demons, Lord? Conquer the enemy and bring Jānakī back. Rāma says: listen, monkey, there is no one like you who has done such a kindness, god, man or sage. I cannot think how to repay you, for my mind cannot face you. I am not in debt to you, son, I have thought it over. Again and again the protector of the gods looked at the monkey, his eyes full of tears, his body thrilled. Hearing the Lord's words and seeing his face and body, Hanumān was glad, and fell at his feet, overcome by love, crying: 'Save me, Lord, save me!'
