Hanumān asks Sītā for some token, as Rāma gave him. She takes off her crest-jewel and gives it, and he takes it gladly. She tells him to give Rāma her humble greeting: the Lord is perfect in every way, but let him remember that he is kind to the poor, and take away her heavy trouble. She tells him to tell the story of Indra's son, and make the Lord remember the power of his arrow. If he does not come within a month, he will not find her alive. She asks how she can keep her life, since even Hanumān's departure will make it hard. Seeing him calmed her heart, but then the same days and nights return. Hanumān calms Janaka's daughter in many ways, gives her courage, bows at her lotus feet and goes to Rāma.
