श्लोक और सोरठा

The sixth sopāna opens with three Sanskrit ślokas. The first praises Rāma as the one God, beyond all change and illusion. The second praises Śiva, and the third asks Śiva for peace. A dohā then asks the mind why it does not worship Rāma, whose bow is Time itself. In two sorathas Rāma asks his ministers how to cross the sea, and Jāmbavān answers that Rāma's own name is the bridge. छठा सोपान तीन संस्कृत श्लोकों से आरम्भ होता है। पहला श्लोक राम को एकमात्र ईश्वर, माया और विकार से परे बताकर उनकी वन्दना करता है। दूसरा श्लोक शिव की वन्दना है और तीसरा शिव से शान्ति की प्रार्थना। फिर एक दोहा मन से पूछता है कि जिन राम का धनुष स्वयं काल है, उन्हें तू क्यों नहीं भजता। दो सोरठों में राम सचिवों से समुद्र पार करने का उपाय पूछते हैं और जाम्बवान कहते हैं कि आपका नाम ही सेतु है।

श्लोक १श्लोक 1 रामं कामारिसेव्यं भवभयहरणं कालमत्तेभसिंहं योगीन्द्रं ज्ञानगम्यं गुणनिधिमजितं निर्गुणं निर्विकारम्। मायातीतं सुरेशं खलवधनिरतं ब्रह्मवृन्दैकदेवं वन्दे कन्दावदातं सरसिजनयनं देवमुर्वीशरूपम् ॥ १ ॥

rāmaṃ kāmārisevyaṃ bhavabhayaharaṇaṃ kālamattebhasiṃhaṃ | yogīndraṃ jñānagamyaṃ guṇanidhimajitaṃ nirguṇaṃ nirvikāram | māyātītaṃ sureśaṃ khalavadhanirataṃ brahmavṛndaikadevaṃ | vande kandāvadātaṃ sarasijanayanaṃ devamurvīśarūpam ||

मैं राम की वन्दना करता हूँ, जो पृथ्वी के स्वामी हैं, कमल जैसे नेत्रों वाले हैं और जिनका शरीर शुद्ध कन्द के समान उजला है। कामदेव के शत्रु शिव उनकी सेवा करते हैं। वे जन्म-मरण का भय हरते हैं और काल रूपी मतवाले हाथी के लिए सिंह हैं। वे योगियों के राजा हैं, ज्ञान से पाए जाते हैं, सब गुणों के भण्डार हैं, अजेय हैं, तीनों गुणों से परे हैं, विकार से रहित हैं, माया से परे हैं और देवताओं के स्वामी हैं। वे दुष्टों के वध में लगे रहते हैं और ब्राह्मणों के समूह के एकमात्र देव हैं।

I bow to Rāma, the lord of the earth, lotus-eyed, his body fair and shining like a pure bulb. Śiva, the enemy of Kāma, serves him. He takes away the fear of birth and death, and he is a lion to the mad elephant of Time. He is the king of yogis, to be reached by knowledge, a store of every virtue, unconquered, beyond the three qualities, free of change, beyond illusion, the lord of the gods. He is bent on killing the wicked, and he is the one God of the whole company of brahmins.

Explanationव्याख्या

कामारि का अर्थ है कामदेव के शत्रु, यानी शिव, जिन्होंने कामदेव को भस्म किया था।

Kāmāri, 'enemy of Kāma', is Śiva, who burned Kāma.

श्लोक २श्लोक 2 शंखेन्द्वाभमतीवसुन्दरतनुं शार्दूलचर्माम्बरं कालव्यालकरालभूषणधरं गंगाशशांकप्रियम्। काशीशं कलिकल्मषौघशमनं कल्याणकल्पद्रुमं नौमीड्यं गिरिजापतिं गुणनिधिं कन्दर्पहं शङ्करम् ॥ २ ॥

मैं गिरिजा के पति शंकर की स्तुति करता हूँ। उनका शरीर शंख और चन्द्रमा जैसा उजला है और वे बाघ की खाल पहनते हैं। भयंकर साँप उनके आभूषण हैं और गंगा तथा चन्द्रमा उन्हें प्रिय हैं। वे काशी के स्वामी हैं, कलियुग के पापों के समूह को शान्त करते हैं और कल्याण के कल्पवृक्ष हैं। वे गुणों के भण्डार हैं और उन्होंने कामदेव का नाश किया।

I praise Śaṅkara, the husband of Girijā. His body is fair as a conch and the moon, and he wears a tiger skin. He is dressed in fearsome snakes, and he loves the Gaṅgā and the moon. He is the lord of Kāśī, he washes away the sins of the Kali age, and he is a wishing tree of all good fortune. He is a treasury of virtue, and he destroyed Kāma.

श्लोक ३श्लोक 3 यो ददाति सतां शम्भुः कैवल्यमपि दुर्लभम्। खलानां दण्डकृद्योऽसौ शङ्करः शं तनोतु मे ॥ ३ ॥
